Thanks to all that responded to the request for chase vessels! We have more than enough.

We still need 20 people to volunteer as balloon handlers on the ground in Norwalk.

A hot air balloon race will take place across Long Island Sound on August 8th(9th is alternate date) Hot air balloons will race across the sound along with "The Human Balloon" This is a guy that straps on a lawn chair type harness attached to helium balloons and up he goes! This is a charity event to raise funds for CMN and Komens race for the cure.

It is a kick off event for the Metro NY Balloon & Music Festival being held on August 10th,11th and 12th at Brookhavens Calabro Airport.

We are in need of around 20 volunteers to assist in the inflation of the balloons and their initial launch. Gathering time is between 4 and 4:30 AM. Balloons should launch around 6:00AM!

If you have ever worked on a balloon, crew you know how much fun this can be. If you are a first timer thats great too! We'd love the chance to introduce you to the sport of Hot Air Ballooning!

Is a "balloon handler" the same as someone that likes to handle "jugs" ? If so I am in, but have a few questions.

Will these be older balloons that are sagy or will they be younger (I mean newer) perky balloons?

Also, wiil these balloons be natural or will they be synthetic. These questions may sound silly but as a professional balloon handler it is important.

Looking forward to handling your balloons.

Walter

Lotsa fun at these wacky events-did Albuquerque in 94. Too bad about the start time tho....

Hey walter thats really funny you made my day dude! They are synthetic of course but they are really big ones! Some more than 70 feet high! But you know what they say... more than a canyon full is a waste! And you also need gloves to handle the ropes that hold these puppies up! And as far as their age is concerned, they are all very young as required by the FAA . NO old saggy un- flight worthy balloons allowed. They are all young and fresh!Cmon up and hang on to some young fresh balloons!
