Ditto, Kingsmill. Saint Max is about 8 miles up the Chickahominy River. I live about 40 minutes west of Kingsmill, just shy of Richmond. Let me know if I can be of any assistance. Although, Kingsmill is so high end, they probably have a concierge service!

After reading this post over, I think I may change My stay in Norfolk (Waterside) to the Bluewater!
What is there to do and how do we get around? Are there things to see that are walking distance from the marina?

Waterside is in need of updating. Bluewater is a few blocks away from things, but not a bad walk. The restaurant at Bluewater was good the last time I was there three years ago. Can't speak to today.

Cousteau Museum. VA Air and Space Museum. Ft. Monroe is right across the bay. I believe there is a bus from Hampton to Monroe. Outdoor concerts depending on the weekend.

No disrespect intended with the above. Just easier to copy and paste.

When you get to Kingsmill, you have Historical Williamsburg, Jamestown Settlement, great golf and local shopping.

There is also the Smart Buoy Tour. I hope to be able to take that one in 2011.

We have been on the hook for over a week in Hampton, just across from the public docks. 6-8' of water and plenty of room to swing. Probably not a great raft up location though. We are a 46' power boat and draw 3 1/2-ish feet.

From Bluewater you'll have at least a 1-1 1/4 mile walk to downtown. After spending some time here I would choose the public docks over Bluewater. $1.25 per foot and I think a Marinalife member discount on top of that.
