I have a stock 2000 Commodore 2660 and want to see which Bennett ATC parts I need to make it automatic. Is the installation difficult?

Thanks,
-Steve`

It all comes in the kit. Includes: sensor, wiring, control pad, and 2 "boxes". I mounted the boxes under the helm footrest. Best boating "toy" I ever bought! (Especially with the 2660, as it's a bit top heavy)

sugilbert nailed it !! got my on ebay ! the unit is a must on a narrow beam boat like the 2660.

I found the best price right here at boatfix.

OK, well there seems to be the AC2000 and now the AC3000, but there are also these retrofit kits and some seem to have BPI Boat Position Indicators which i like, too. So i'm more confused... which do i buy?

Never heard of the AC3000, so I searched for it. (It is NOT on the Bennett site) Apparently, it's not even available yet. Likely Jan. '08. Can't find a description that says what the difference is. Only found a picture of the control, which looks far more modern, but does not appear to do anything that the AC2000 doesn't do.

Unless style is very important to you, the AC2000 will serve you well, and likely be cheaper after January; if, in fact, it will still be available. YOUR call.

I know nothing about the AC3000, never heard of it until today but it may just be a replacement or upgrade for the AC2000. I did a little research and the unit looks sleek but all sites state that it is not available until Jan '08. In studying the unit it looks like Bennett has combined the manual trim tab switch with an automatic control unit (ATC). This would be a benefit on boat like ours with small dash panels since the space becomes cramped at times for electronics. I would probably wait for another month and then look at an AC3000 unit.

I am not sure what the BPI/ boat position indicator does except maybe it shows the position of your trim tabs. It would be handy to know the position of your trim tabs if you are adjusting the tabs manually. If you use the ATC unit it really does not matter what position tabs are located since the ATC does all the work for you.

Here's a pic of the AC3000. I don't see that is a tab adjuster AND auto controller, but it's hard to tell.

Well I called Bennett. This will be released in January or February, 2008. They "ran into production setbacks" which I translate to mean, "It's a little buggy. Wait until we work that out...". they said that the AC2000 is discontinued but some are still out there with resellers. The 2000 has a CPU box and a liquid-filled attitude controller. The 3000 will be entirely CPU-based and will have only the one box. The retail price expected to be less than the AC2000. The trim indicator unit and the normal manual controls are still SEPARATE units which I never quite understood but it's worth the wait for me.

Far better than I had to pay for the AC2000 5 years ago! Hopefully, it will stay the same price when it actually comes out! :)
