Considering price, pool, protection, and access to dining out, what would you pick?

Thanks, the S.O.s Bday is the 28th so we'll close out the Bahamas there starting hopefully this Thurs..

"close out"? Will you still be there when we head over in early May? If so, where?

Well dining out in Bimini is pretty limited in Alice town so if that is important I d say go to Bimini bay as they have nice restaurants. It s $2 a ft there but of course it has limited local flavor...

Blue water is fine although I usually stop at seaquest next door. About $1 a ft. I like itbetter there than Bimini bay since you can walk to the beach hut avian dining options are limited

I should stop there on the way from the exumas Monday

Seaquest or Blue Water. The Red Lion always had decent food.

There used to be a local crack head named JB or JD who made good conch salad at your boat side. You'd give him the money for the conch and the fixings plus a bit extra for a rock and he'd whip up a tasty batch of salad.

Kurt we are going to be there until the 28th when we look for a window back over to the states. We can't swing the Exumas this year. It looks like the fall next year. We have work on Freedom that needs to get done. We've been taking care of her but there's some wear that cannot wait any longer. One of the oil pressure gauges pegged for a bit. It's an indication of crap in the oil jamming the regulator, and it's time to pull apart a few things to see what's up.
Antifreeze has been creeping into the oil pan from somewhere. It's all within spec and the samples are all good, but this was the flakiest reading we had on the gauge. It disappeared with a blip of the throttles and it's been quiet since but the last thing I want to do is grenade an engine far from anywhere. This combined with a slight rise in EGT on that engine has me concerned. Maybe we're not running them hard enough. We subsequently ran half the trip from Lucaya to Great Harbour at 1900 with no ill affects.
So we're done for the season then. At this point I'd say Ft. Lauderdale and the New River are in our future when we get back. At least until some issues are resolved.
We could renew our papers and stay longer but we have a misbehaving engine, and I also have to get the condo ready to sell.

Electric gauge I presume? Bet it was a gauge or sender contact issue. Clean/tighten the contact points on both ends of the wire.

Are you staying on the boat while in Lauderdale?

Yeah, I tried a mechanical on the port engine, and it failed due to vibration. Part of the maintenance is going to include some mechanical gauges I can count on. I don't think it's electrical. Especially given the AF content in the oil. I pulled the pan, regulator and oil pump a few years ago, and found some crap. It' got to be jamming up the regulator.
The indicator for this engine has always been a bit jumpy. I've heard they are notorious (Detroits) for odd oil pressure indications.

Now we can add dripping dripless shaft seals.....

I guess Bosun will be with us for a while then!

Sorry to hear all that, but it would appear you're making a wise decision. Who knows, we might pass somewhere. We'll be in Ft. Pierce on 5/2 and will start making our way south on the ICW looking for a weather window to cross.

Yes we're getting used to this salt water deal. Freedom was Fresh water for the first nine years. Two years of salt have taught us a few lessons.

Meeting up is certainly a possibility. At this point we are going to be at Bimini a while, at least through the 28th, and probably Ft. Lauderdale after that. We'll most likely have a car while there so we can drive around a bit as long as I don't get in over my head with maintenance.
