Best type of pump for a holding tank?

My holding tank had been removed from the boat when purchased and the head was been piped straight to a thru-hull. I have installed a holding tank and need advice on the best type of pump to install. There is a macerator pump in a box of parts that was on the boat. Can I use this for pumping out the holding tank or do I need to use one of the diaphragm-type pumps? Thanks.
