Bethel Island Weekly Update - This Week Ending October 17, 2009
Roadwork: Work is complete for stage 1 Wells and Bethel Island road. The Contractor will pave the portion of Wells road, Bethel Island road and South Levee Access road the week of October 19.
Bridgework: The last of the north side trestle has been removed. Sheet piles to allow the construction of abutment 10 will be installed next week. The only piles/columns remaining to be poured are Pier 3 and 4. Falsework is constructed to pour pier cap 5 and pier cap 6.
On an as needed basis for safety reasons, traffic will be temporarily stopped for a period of 10-15 minutes. Please drive carefully and follow the warning signs posted around the project.

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA-BRIDGE-DUTCH SLOUGH – Chart 18661
BETHEL ISLAND RD BRIDGE REPLACEMENT PROJECT Trestles will extend from the north and south banks of the waterway, east of the bridge, providing a horizontal clearance of 33 ft for navigation during construction. The channelward ends of the trestles are lighted at night with red lights. See the Enclosure Section at the end of this end of this Local Notice to Mariners. Mariners are urged to use caution while transiting the bridge. Mariners unable to transit the bridge during construction may take an alternate route around Bethel Island.
