Sugar Barge has a new 24/7 self serve card-swipe fuel dock now. I saw it last Sat when I was there and got the form for my 10 cents per gallon dry storage discount in the mail this week.
 
Kool. Their fuel is V-Tech. They are also a participating Boat US marina which avails a discount to BUS members.
 
The for sale sign is still up at the Landing, did the bass tourny guy's sale fall through? All of the Landing's wet berths are empty. But the Sugar Barge RV park was 3/4 full, that is good.

Yesterday I took Pegasus for a 45 minute run up to Irish Landing, she runs great and idles great. It is such a rush to plane along at 28 mph on the slough with waterfowl skimming accross the water in front of you.
 
I haven't heard anything further......usually the For Sale sign remains until a property closes escrow. That keeps prospective buyers inquirying in case the current deal falls through.

We've enjoyed LaVilla since they first opened, but sadly, LaVilla has gone downhill since the owner opened the Oakley location. High turnover of servers doesn't help.

We still miss the Gangplank and the Artist Table...
 
Sadly, I never made it to the Artist Table, but I do remember the Gangplank and the two sisters who ran the place....that was a long time ago!
 
I still get a quality, well price, and fast dinner at the Bethel Island La Villa.
 
I just don't care for the way they season the food. I really miss Tony's! His Mexican food was similar to how my mom made it. And he had the very best pancakes in the whole world IMHO
 
Tony's was the best on the Island as far as I'm concerned. With the Coves now a dead project and the economy in the tank I doubt there will be much "dining out" this summer...most folks I talked to are trying to hang-on for a couple of months until the summer season starts. Hope they all make it!
 
Too many businesses and home owners were betting on Delta Coves. BI is looking much like a ghost town now!
 
Yeah, gone are the days of Carter's Marine, Richard's Yacht Center, Angel's Yacht Sales, B-I Yacht Sales, the Gangplank, The Boathouse, Wally's Wrecking Yard, Deli and Laundramat (LOL), The Artist's Table, Delta Van Cruiser's, Diamond Yacht Sales, Bentley's Marina, Frank's Fishing Resort and Chuck's Delta Sportsman.

Just to name a few.

Those were the days!
 
Indeed they were!!!!! And don't forget about Bellici's Delta Bell [great prime rib and dancing]; Belle Isle [Chinese food] and Bill's Market with fabulous hand cut beef! Also Frank's Cove after Puccinelli passed on. I could go on and on and on.
 
Yeah, Bill Bellici practically OWNED the downtown.

I do miss his appetizers and prime rib and lobster specials. Yummy!

RIP Bill...
 
GR Marshalls has good food and Tugs is in business in the old Boat House location. The Porhole is open on weekends as well (including breakfast).

The first few times that I drove by there when they first re-opened, I thought the name of the place was "Jugs".

Knowing the history of the place (and being a customer since the 80's), I didn't think twice about it! LOL
 
LOL. I think GR Marshall's Bistro is the best on the island, but it is difficult to get to from the water..... At the opposite end of that same shopping center is Ty's Pizza. Take and cook it yourself, take it already cooker or delivery is available. Good pizza too!

I took our motorhome back to storage at Sugar Barge today, and I decided to take a drive around the Island.

I drove through L-L and noticed the empty docks and restaurant. The "campground" was empty with the exception of a few (what appear to be)squatters. The boat (???) repair place just outside of it was vacant and the entire area is being taken over with weeds.

There was some graffiti on the buildings and "sold" spray painted on the signage and other places.

Hopefully, the next owner will actually clean the place up. Craig did a lot of talking, but not much action. Quite a bit of the previous Delta Resort element never left.

Frank's is just plain sad to look at. He was so proud of that place when he was alive and it showed. I had two birthdays and a boat christening party at the restaurant there, as well as way too many nice meals to count.

There were quite a few cars parked in front of one of the restaurants in the shopping center and La Villa had a nice crowd inside.

The saddest part of B-I is that after all the years of the county neglecting the place, they finally make great efforts to "motivate" the residents to clean their places up and now there isn't much left! The island has never been cleaner. And sadly, so vacant...
 
Isn't it amazing how queit Bethel Island is and a year ago we feared the Delta Coves was going to change it into a metropolis. I was at Sugar Barge on Sat, I took Pegasus for a short run up to Irish Landing to keep her excercised. I wanted to go to the Spring Fling but knew the wind would be comming up and while my homebuilt 16 footer can take the pounding and the water tight compartments have new 3M5200 the pounding is hard on the skipper. Hopefully I can meet everyone later this year. I found some Pegaus line art and made some boat cards yesterday with a Google Docs template and some Staples card stock. I love them and can tune the graphics and content if I want.

I wish we had known that you wanted to come. You certainly could have caught a ride with me. I was solo going down and coming home. Next time don't be so shy!
