I spent a lovely weekend at the San Joaquin Yacht Club. Had a prime rib dinner on Friday for $10 with all the fixins; helped decorate the place all day Saturday for our annual Halloween Party; went to a couple of other parties, then back to the boat and hit the sack.
Sunday I had a really nice cruise around the eastern side of the island. Went to Russo's Hook Line & Sinker Shell to fill up the ole tank: 89 Octane was $3.09; 92 Octane was $3.19. no diesel or 87 Octane.....
There are some changes in the "downtown" area:
Nantucket II closed a few months ago and now a rib, pizza and prime rib place called Boss Hogs has opened. I haven't tried it yet.
In the shopping center next to the BI Grocery and Gas Station, is a new place called G R Marshall's Bistro. They have already opened the bar, but the restuarant isn't up and running yet. I think the kitchen is being rebuilt. Occassional, they have appitizers or such right now.
For those who belong to recipricating yacht clubs, you can dock your boat at SJYC's and walk two-three blocks to get to these eateries and others such as La Villa and Tony's Family Restuarant.
The Marshall's used to chair the Meals on Wheels activities for the SJYC. 2006 we donated $34k to East Contra Costa County Meals on Wheels. Rich is also the BI Chamber's new President.
It is rumored that in that same shopping center a pizza parlor will be going in.....stay tuned!
Top Grade is working 7 days a week on the new Delta Coves development. I guess they are trying to beat the rainy season!
