I haven't been around BI for a few years and friends are going to be there for a weekend of fishing and boating. What are some of the more popular eating and drinking estbablishments that are on or near the water. Gracias

DBH, Paradise Bar and Grill at Sugar Barge has good food and service, I have hosted a few parties there and everyone comes away patting themselves on the back.

If you have wheels La Costa walkup taco stand 3100 Main Street in Oakley has great food and frequented a lot by the locals. You eat on picnic tables in the shade so it is kind of the opposite of a 5 star resturaunt but it is very clean and great food.

I will be a Swing Beach with the dogs Sunday and usually have the VHF on "Pegasus standing by on 72" if you care to hail me I would like to meet you. Delta Dawg

For eateries on the water at Bethel Island, there are three: Paradise at Sugar Barge; Rusty Porthole; and Lundberg's Landing. All three are on Piper Slu and have free docking while you dine. Rusty is not as new as Paradise, but is very popular with visitors. They have live music on the deck every Sunday afternoon. Lundberg's is a favorite of fisherman. Nothing fancy, but very good food and reasonable prices.

There are also a couple of fine restaurants "downtown" near the bridge: G R Marshall's Bistro, La Villa Mexican and Ty's Pizza. The pizza place will deliver to your boat!

Thanks all. My friends are going up on June 6th and I may or may not be there but I appreciate the information and will pass it along. Delta Dawg, you bring up another question. Various lakes and waterways have a local channel they use on the radio to hail friends and get information. Is 72 just your favorite or do most of the folks on the delta use that to pass along information.

Channel 16 for hailing and USCG. A lot of Delta boaters go to 72 after that. Channel 9 for bridges.

All of the channels are pretty busy in the summer. I often use 71, but the yacht clubs prefer 68, when they are paying attention! It is best to hail on Ch 16 and then switch to an agreed channel such as Ch 72 unless you and the other party have agreed on a working channel in advance.
