Is it safe to ask about a trip to block island with my 36 sailboat.
I'll be leaving riverhead to greenport through the gut and over to new london to pickup my wifes kids.
I would like to pick them up at the city dock and they need to park their car for a few days.

You should probably post this over on the New England Cruising Club forum. They may have specific knowledge on where to park in New London or any local knowledge that would be helpful.

As to whether it is safe to ask, that depends.

The boat is fine.

If you are an experienced sailor, then yes.

If you bought the boat last week and have never sailed in your life, then no. Run for cover;-)

Radar and/or a radar deflector will help if you have them!

New London has parking facilities in downtown to support the ferries, both indoor and outdoor. I forget what it costs, but reasonable for a few days. I'm not sure where you can tie up to take your passengers aboard, but the municipal dock and city pier are in the right neighborhood.
