I went to few fish stores over the past three weeks, Deans, White Cap and a couple others. I have not found any jumbo Blue Claws. I get a craving late August for the big guys and only see mid to small, not worth the effort. Did Sandy maybe cause this shortage ?

Plenty of jimmys out east...you can try Casino Clam in Patchogue...definitely out in Hampton Bays...cor cj and the one further south.

mmmm...garlic crabs....

Perry,

Is that the code name Jimmys ? Maybe they have them in the back... LOL

I like them simple steamed in Beer / Water with Old Bay, Lemon and sometimes a Pickling Crab spice.

Garlic is my most used staple in most of my cooking, and I cook a lot.

Jimmys are ex-large crabs...

Sounds good to me! I'll bring the crabs!

I go to Dean’s seafood and ask for Jimmys. Big Jim comes out from the back all full of fish blood and said who the F are you and if you call me Jimmy ever again it will not be fish blood on my apron….. Get it Pal...

I ended up getting two lobsters… they were great…

Ok.. P.S… Just kidding about Big Jim… LOL :D

Jimmy's are male crabs, Sooks are mature female crab's and Sally's are not mature female crabs.
At least here on the Chesapeake. It has not been a good year for the Chesapeake either.

Van,
I get all my crabs from shoreline seafood in Crofton. They come from Louisiana

I have actually been knocking them dead this year. I have 2 traps at the mouth of my canal that are always filling and every night that I have gone out has been a bonanza too. usually hit the flats between Babylon cut and Captree bridge. Tried a trot line for the first time ever one day and it was great but hard to do with all the boats anchored in the flats.
