Who is the sponsor of this event? Is there a particular organization involved? I love to look at old boats! Since my berth is near there, I'll probably meander down to check them out......

Flutterby, there is no sponsor. A few of us boat builders from the Glen-L small outboard boat building forum http://www.glen-l.com would like to meet each other and admire each others boats. This invitation is posted on both the Glen-L and this local forum.

I look forward to meeting you, if you stop by be sure to check out my boat Pegasus, I have read many of your posts but this is my first time posting. Delta Dawg

Welcome to this forum.

Do you know a guy named Jim Senior? He lives on Bethel Island and builds/repairs wooden boats for a living. He is also a judge at the Tahoe Conquer 'd Elegance for Harwood runabouts.......his wife is a good friend of mine!

Flutterby, I do not know Jim but that would be great if you could encourage him to come and bring one of his wooden boats. He must do beautiful work. Delta Dawg

Is that abandoned trawler made of wood? Maybe we can drag it over to the event and leave it there. ;)

Upper------I'm not sure if it is wood or glass, but I do know Sugar Barge would not appreciate it being at their docks at anytime!!!!LOL

Dawg-------Jim's wife has put it on their calendar!

All, If there are any steam boat skippers out there you are more than welcome to bring your steam boat 28 Oct.

If you ever have the urge to see for yourself why steam was dropped as soon as the internal combustion engine was developed, go watch these guys!

I had a friend who was a member of this group about 20 years ago. Between steering, adding water to the boiler, feeding the fire, stomping out the fire that started in the bottom of the boat due to coals falling out, kicking the sticky pressure relief valve (just like on the African Queen!) and bailing due to all the water dripping out of the engine he really had his hands full!

I thought I'd bump this up to top as a reminder for those who are interested. There are several Halloween Parties around Bethel Island on Saturday Night and this gathering on Sunday. Why not come for the weekend? I plan to drop by and I hope the weather is nice!

Flutterby, thank you. Two weeks ago I listed the event on the Delta Chamber's current events web
site after my friend JC suggested that. We have picked up 2415 hits between this forum thread and
the Glen-L forum thread.

The event is also mentioned in this month's Glen-L WebLetter http://www.glen-l.com/weblettr/webletters-11/webletter93.html Do you know if your friend who is
the professional boat builder still plans to attend? I am an amateur boat builder and I would
enjoy talking with him. Delta Dawg

Yes, Jim will be there, but probably not until the afternoon. He's cooking Halloween Dinner at the yacht club Saturday night [:-chef]
