Just met Brian, from AutoBoat Detailing last night at my boat. Tony from SPBM sent him to me. Seems to be very good. If he does what he says, should come out perfect, and worth the $$. I'll post the results when he is finished.
The office at SPBM gave me one price for the job, than Tony gave different price, than detailer himself gave me a different price. (3 drifferent prices) The detailer being lower, but says the marina's $$ is already built into the lower price. Seems the marina is trying to make more than the 10% agreed between the detailer and the marina.

Some things appear to never change, even if the ownership does. They need to get an exterminator and treat the whole place for lunacy!

Would you please post the phone number for him. I need to get mine done as well. I heard that he did a few of the Hudson River Sluts (go-fasts) and they looked great. thanks....

There's a guy out there, who is probably reading these post right now, who does a great job, but he may be pre-occupied playing with a new toy. :)

Good ole Pete, the consumate gentleman always. There is soooooooooo much floating debris in the river up here I still have no desire to take it out.

White's charges me 10% yard fee, but they have given me so much work no one is complaining - when the new gas prices take effect that sentiment might change [:-grumpy]

I second giving a fellow RO the first shot at some business. Oops, I got in trouble with you guys the last time I did that - Hush my lips!

Nope, PeteB got in trouble, not you....

At first, it sounds ridiculous to charge an outsider 10% but believe me, it isn't. As a member of the club, we're sorta our own yard managers. We don't charge 10% but some people make it frustrating. SOME mechanics/tradesmen come in and act like they own the place. They'll block the ramp, leaving their rig sitting there while they sea trial. They'll fill the dumpsters with shrink wrap instead of bundling it and leaving on the side like considerate people do. Of course, it's a 50/50 shot whether or not they'll re-coil the hose or leave the water running. Occasionally they even leave dead batteries and oil for us, etc. Heck, one guy even left an engine block and we had to be the moderator between the boat owner and the mechanic as to who's responsibility it is to remove it.

Just thought I'd offer a different perspective.

Then there's George who doesn't mind paying the fee 'cause they throw work his way. Obviously he doesn't do the things I outlined above. So he pays for a different reason....which makes sense.

If I need a diesel mechanic to work on my boat and the yard I'm at doesn't do diesel work OR can't get to it in a timely fashion then what right do they have to hold their hand out for a 10% KICKBACK?

To Chris's point if someone I bring in causes an issue then I'm responsible for making things right. Then again I make sure I'm always there when that happens so I'm sure they act the way I would in any situation.
