A couple of weeks ago we put our first boat, a 1989 Carver 2357 Montego, in at Lock 1 Marina...just north of Waterford.

We are in need of some on board, in-water, handling instruction....mainly when it comes to close quarter maneuvering.

Is there anyone in our area that offers this kind of services?

Thanks!

What area, and when it comes to boat handling it's practice, practice, practice! good luck on your new boat.

There is a guy in our marina, but I'm not sure if he travels that far. I'll ask him over the weekend

I'd be interested in his name. I'm hopefully making an offer on a boat next week, and am going from a single I/O to twins, so a little edumication would help the gelcoat.

Have you considered asking Michael, the owner of Lock 1 Marina, if he'd have time or be interested? I believe he holds a license and is a qualified, seasoned mariner.

I took lessons in Haverstraw from Don Fleming. He is great. I don't know how far north he will go but if anyone needs lessons who is local to Haverstraw or Stony Point he is great.

Doug, Call this guy.....His name is Jim, the guy Hoagan is referring to. His Number is 201-310-5852. He boats here in Stony Point with us, but when I called him he indicated he would consider travelling up to you.

Thanks for all of the replies.

I have contacted Michael at Lock 1 and we are going to hire him.

Thanks again!

Hey Doug, small world! I'm at Lock 1 Marina as well, the little bowrider "Wild Turkey" in slip 5B. Michael's a good guy and helped me out a lot with my first boat. Love the marina, I just wish there was a closer place to fuel up!

Mike,

It is indeed a small world. This is our first boat and first year on the river. We are in slip 11A. Stop by and say "hi".
