According to todays local newspaper...Boca Raton has cut funds to pay for its annual boat parade.
It will Not put a damper on this beautiful activity because other municipalities are footing their bills for it, like Delray Beach and Boynton Beach.
Last year we anchored up at Peanut Island to watch their massive parade in Palm Beach, which was FANTASTIC.We will try to make both parades this year and hope to see other R/Os enjoying it also.

Do you know the dates yet? Last few years we went to the Boca Parade.

Boca really put their head in the sand on this one...Mayor Abram's comments about them just expecting the marine business community to step up and pay for it really sucks. He blames it on budget cuts...yeah right....all those brand spanking new fire stations, etc. (renovations and a ton of incremental ones) that they built just because they had the money to spend when property taxes were jamming the city's coffers had nothing to do with it. They've been irresponsibly spending for years and now they blame the business community for not sponsoring the costs...

Last count, 57 boats have signed up and attended a get-together at Georges Rest. this evening.
We were told to expect more vessels since they are coming from other locations.. Now they have extended the parade route to a location further South to accommodate the over flow of additional boats.
See Y'all!

Well the time is here! We have loaded up the galley with all kinds of goodies ... Steak ,lobster, shrimp stuffed w/ crab meat
asst. sandwiches plus a qualified barman to serve libations to our friends and guests.. We have been designated as vessel # 60, we will be cruising out with vessel #61 "White Star" ,throwing chicken bones at each other!!
I may be forced to bring along some water balloons if things tend to get out of hand...
Now I've been told that more than 60 boats will shine on!
See Y'all...

All in all it was a beautiful Parade...Many boats did them selfs proud by setting up some elaborate designs. The areas that were covered along the ICW were loaded with spectators, the folks really showed there appreciation .
