I have a 1984 Carver 3207. This is my first Spring where I need to wax the hull and super-structure. Anyone know of a good wax to use?

Buff Magic and Pro Polish or Rejex after compounding.

I buff with 3M Finesse-it 2 followed by Mequires Flagship wax...REALLY glossy shine!!!!

I actually just got home from buffing the hull on mine. I use Buff Magic (Applied correctly) and follow up with leverage or rejex.

I have the same hull as you and use Buff Magic and Pro Polish. The first year was alot of work to get it clean but you won't believe the difference when you are done. The following years are easier because there is less gunk to remove. The boat also stays cleaner durring the year.

I have been very happy with the German "blue" stuff called Flitz. Buy the 2# can and it will last a few seasons. I follow up with one of their quick waxes and have been very happy.

Both this boat and my last ones were in need of TLC when purchased and these products were great.

Hey John, glad you asked about the wax. I'll go with whatever you decide, and see you tomorrow night at radio class. :)

Scott.

My recent round of Buff Magic yesterday on the hull. Still have to paint the bottom but moving along.

Thanks everyone! Really love the attention and response from everyone. Looks like Buff Magic and Pro Polish are a favorite of all.

I bought some buff magic today since everyone raved about it. While I don't have a boat like 370's, this may be helpful to some of those with older boats that have seen some extra wear over the years.

For 4 years I have been using flitz (2# can of the blue, looks very similar to buff magic).

I decided to do half of the topside with each of these. While the buff magic did a great job and was easy to work with, the flitz side had a noticeable higher shine. My boat does not shine like 370's, but for an '88 it looks pretty good.

Not sharing this to offend anyone married to buff magic, just wanted to share my findings.

I will try the same on the hull next weekend and see how that goes.

I did like the result from the pro polish better than the flitz (wax based).

Thanks,

Jim

It also depends on how you used it. Buff Magic works best on a rotary at about 1400 - 1800 rpm while working it in until its completely gone. You should only be wiping off dust.

The flitz has a smell of distillates in it to me, which may be causing it to look like it shines betters.

Not sure how much Buff Magic has but the smell isn't as strong. That can make a difference in appearance.

You always have to follow Buff Magic with some sort of polish, polymer or wax to complete the process.

For what its worth-
I have always had great results with Wizards products.

Turbo Cut
Finish cut
Shine Master

On My Cars - I use finish cut, then Supreme Seal

Buff magic does not shine, it cleans. You have to follow it with a polish. I prefer a polish over a wax.

Buff magic does shine, anything you put over it should be used to seal in the finish not to make it shine. If you are doing it any other way, its the wrong way.

I also prefer polish over a wax for what it is worth.

You should still use a polish and then sealant like rejex after buff magic IMHO.
