"RESIDENTS & FRIENDS OF SANDMOUND SLOUGH/SKI BEACH: 7/30/2011 Sat. Richard Kent will have his tug & barge on the slough between Carol's and Ski Beach. He needs people with boats to help bring the weeds to the barge and he will get them out of our slough. Bring boats people, ropes, metal bar, food and drinks.

Sounds like a good way to spend a day clearing out the hyacinths which has been taking over the slough.
 
Will he remove some of the cranksters and derelicts as well??? [xx(][-crzwom][:-drunk]

I'm not sure which does more damage to the place... [:-magnify]
 
BAB I'd appreciate your NOT bashing Bethel Island and stick to the topic at hand in your posts. This forum is about boating, not social issues.

You're right, Methel Island doesn't need my help. Everyone pretty much knows what the place is...

At least your (seldom responded to) informational threads get a bump!

Well, your comments such as these just reinforce my opinion of folks who live is Disco Bay: a bunch of snobs who usually know nothing about courtesy, common sense and the Rules of the Road on the water.

I'm just sayin..........

You are no more a crankster than I am what you describe as the typical resident of Disco Bay.

And I agree with you. There are plenty of first class jerks that (unfortunately) purchased homes and boats that live here.

I was a long-standing member of the DBYC until I just got fed up with the BS that was being slung around the place. I started back when the club was located on the Boardwalk, long before the current castle was even thought of.

When the "new breed" of people started buying up the Hoffman tract-home shanty's, the problems got started.

I've been there since '81. Not too many folks today can say that.

The johnny come-lately's brought on the bad rep of the place (and before any of my neighbors get their panties in an uproar, no, not everyone!). Just like the cranksters and derelicts have done to B.I.

And they call it "progress"... [:-censored]
 
What's even more of a joke is the fact that most of the people in DB really can't afford the lifestyle they try to live. Just look at all the foreclosures in DB.

But keeping a trophy wife happy requires a $1 million home, a go fast boat, and a Mercedes in the garage at a bare minimum. That can get very expensive. And when the cash runs out, so does the blond, tanned beauty with the fake breasts. Straight to the Sportsbar and Steakhouse where she can prey on the aging grey haired golfer for another meal ticket.

Yep, over the years we've seen plenty of the neighbors boats and vehicles repo'd. And don't even mention the foreclosures! There are three vacant homes just on our court.

While perusing craigslist for bargains, I all too often see people selling their docks!

Sure, some of them are "upgrading", but I would imagine that MOST people are selling them just to get some money before the bank takes over.

Along with docks, I commonly see wakeboard towers and swim platforms posted for sale. I guess they managed to take them off the boats before they were hauled away by the repo dudes...

Not us!

We're on our third home here and probably our last. No need for anything bigger or any closer to fast water for us. Besides, I'd rather have more boats and a nicer motorhome as time goes by...

And no trophy wife for me! Just a great gal that raised a handful of kids better than most could. And she even has her real breasts! :D

LOL I'll admit it; you and I probably think a lot alike. Not sure if that is good or bad....

And I didn't think you were calling ME a crankster; but it sounds like the island is overrun with druggies. This is not true! I still have lots of friends living there who are law abiding, neighbor-caring people. Just as you have at Disco Bay.
 
FB, before you tell others what to do, you might try a little introspection. Start with your sign off. I think BAB is 100% correct.

I have some grey hairs. And a polished up old trophy always looks good for a while.
But I'm not big on golf. The Wind Mill hole always kicks my azz.

Shouldn't be a problem since they're all phony anyway.

The Sportsbar and Steakhouse is not on the water, but the Boardwalk Grill is. Not as much of a beautiful people place, but a few cougars prowl there from time to time.

And if you get bored there and want to go back to being down and dirty you can always go to Union Point and mingle with the steroid and tramp stamp refugees from Lost Isle.
 
I've never recommended the steakhouse.

I was at the grand opening of the Sextant along with Dick and Patti Zaro and Ken Hoffman. I knew it wouldn't last. Too pricey (and stuffy) for the over-extended folks in DB. It didn't last a year.

There have been many occupants of the joint since back then. Despite the marina (Hoffman Co) handing out free rent, all of them have failed.

The current tenant is a transplant from downtown Brentwood.

So was Rod's Hickory Pit...
