Boating Season Has Begun!

Boys play nice, this is not the Jo(h)ns room.

Why not ? we actually have 2 handhelds aboard . the range thing I was talking about has nothing to do with reaching the coast guard that would be no problem, was talking about antenna hieght for jumping over and around the mountains on low power to reach other boaters.
Lets see, 5 cell phones all safty gear and then some oh yea plus 2 other boats with us 20 plus years of exp.
Your gonna have to try a better than that guy. Jon

The handheld vs fixed mount vs cellphone thing has been debated many times. My personal feeling is I want what ever will get me help in the shortest amount of time. The closest source of help being other boaters on the water not some coast guard cutter 35 miles down river or a police boat contacted via a cellphone and police dispatch still tied up at the dock.

All the above are helpful but I want ALL the help I can get when trouble strikes.

No further comments your honor, I concede to jonf's 20 years of boating experience. jonf, enjoy your boating season.

Sorry to hear you feel that way about the USCG sounds like you'd need all the help you can get if there is trouble. B ut rest assured thoes fine people will put thier life on the line to save you thats what thier all about it sure as hell ain't for the money. Let me tell ya I can pearsonaly gaurentee you no one is drowning on my boat, places i've been , and things i've done im my lifetime are nothing compared to that little creek that i can tell ya,
Starting to think I pissed off one or two of your butt buddies , with a few jokes , it was all in fun if I offended any of you ladies I apologize mabey this ain't the place for me so if you wan't I'M OUT ! I have thick skin like a crocidile ... and am only playing around in good fun ( sticks and stones bud-get it ?)so don't get your panties in a bunch guy..... Jon

Jon

I sure hope you are not saying that I have anything against the USCG as they have my utmost respect. Take a moment to reread what I typed and I think you'll see that I'm talking about getting help from the closest available source when things go bad.

The builders/owners of the Titanic personally guaranteed an unsinkable ship but they did not deliver.....

BTW - name calling really has no place in a public forum.

Rommer , your right " no place for name calling" just got a little defensive, please forgive me, no hard feelings I hope man. have a good one Jon

Oy vey! C'mon guys, this is supposed to be PLEASURE boating. Relax and have some fun, we're all a bunch of opinionated big mouths on here anyway. Of course, some are bigger than others [:-mischievous]!!!

Glad you all had fun this past weekend - I spent it cleaning the hair out of my clogged shower drain and replacing the galley sink, along with other various and sundry items. Curse these blasted boats!!!

I went tot he boat on Sunday for a few hours and had lunch on it and left. Just not using the boat much anymore. I need to sell it.

"Dad" syndrome and high gas prices... Now there's a lethal combination for boating. Years ago I lost the motorcycle to it (before boating).

How ya making out with Freedom , any forward progress ? Jon
