There is a bridge at Steamboat Slu & Sac River, but you can avoid it by staying on the Sac. No need to worry about Tower Bridge or the I St Bridge unless you're a sail boat. I think you should have smooth sailing, but consult your charts and/or Hal's Delta Map to confirm my memory, which can be remiss!

Bill,

You'll have to pass under the Freeport Bridge which normally has plenty of clearance, the Paintersville Bridge which may require an opening depending on tide state and can be called on VHF channel 9. You will also probably need to open the Walnut Grove Bridge. All of the Delta Bridges monitor VHF channel 9 and the ones on the Sacramento River operate 24 hrs per day. You won't have to worry about the Steamboat Slough Bridge since you will be remaining on the Old Sacramento River. Remember to watch your wake when you enter Walnut Grove. They are vigilant about it and will write tickets (not to mention yelling at you with a bullhorn). Have a great trip!

Bill,
A little correction for you. The Freeport, Paintersville & Walnut Grove Bridges are on summer operating hours. 0600-2200 hours. As Dave mentioned, they all monitor channel 9.

Mike

Good link Dave! I'd forgotten about those bridges 'cause I've never had any problem clearing any of them. Your boat requires much more clearance then mine.

15-16 feet you shouldn't have to open any of them; they don't get under 20 until Isleton. Steamboat is 21. Is the river level super high out there right now?
When in doubt, I call the tender a head of time and ask them how much they have.

George
