Will depart Palm Beach Inlet at the end of May, single engine/30 ft. Is there phone number/website/club that will pair up boats or flotilla them for the crossing?

Bahamas Tourism has boating flings but they don't start until June and they depart from Port Everglades. Check out www.bahamas.com Then click on About the Bahamas, then Things to do on the water, then Boating and Sailing, then boating flings.

We crossed over in Nov. and it went like this. If you are concerned watch the weather and pay attention to the wave predictions. We had heard that going over one should not leave if there was any northern component to the wind. As a result we lost one opportunity because the wind was under 5 mph and the stream was like glass. When a second window of the same level came along we took it and left to have a very good crossing.
We noticed that many other boats were leaving at the same time because the windows are picked up by everyone and it tends to group people up. If you are lucky you wind up with another boat within range that is traveling at the same speed. This was the case for us, and as a result of keeping in touch with many of these folks going across and meeting in West End, we have friends now. It was like a country road out there with boats of all sorts going across all checking in with each other. Keep your radio on and listen to the others getting ready to go. They are all over the place.
And do not make the mistake of trying to leave on any particular day because it suits your vacation plans. You may have to wait a week for good weather and it is worth it!

We have reservations at Port Lucaya May 21 through the 25th. We are heading across to Stuart from Cape Coral on the 19th or 20th and staying at the Sailfish marina until we head to The Port Lucaya Marina. You are welcome to join us. There should be one other boat joining us if things work out.

Don't forget your LBO and your user fee decal.

Local Boater Option. Google "local boater". It's a form of pre-registration that makes it easier to clear back into the US when you return.

LBO is nice, but checking back in wasn't that big of a deal. Since we only make one trip per year it's just as painful either way.

So while this thread is being bumped (by me) anyway, let me ask if anybody is planning a trip over to West End from the Stuart area end of April or early May 2009?

Looking for Buddy Boat for Abacos. 35 foot sailboat

Want to spend three weeks. Leaving from Miami mid May returning early June.
