Jeff has it exactly right. If you do the N Island you need to be almost onshore when you hook to the right and east. Otherwise, the play is close to the Southern marsh. You don't need to ride so close to shore and the lane through is wider.
As to the yellow path, I have run that too. There is one very low spot about 30 ft outside the N and S marsh in center. I have seen 1.8, but being on plane, we just sweep the mud outta the way. IO's all the way.
