Buying boat, survey question

I had a similar deal. The seller lived a long way from where the boat was located and he didn't want to travel down to show it to me. He mailed me the keys and asked that I not take it out. My wife and I flew down, spent the day on the boat which gave me time to do a thorough survey of my own prior to making an offer. When it came time for the sea trial, the seller asked if I knew how to drive a boat that big when I affirmed I did, he suggested I just take the boat for a sea trial myself. My wife and I decided that it posed too much liability so we requested he provide a captain.

The sea trial went well and we bought the boat. Been happy on it for the last eight years.

VT how did the sea trial go? Did it happen yet? I'm curious how you are making out on this boat?
Take care. Bill

Hey Bill,
I'm trying to get a date set for sea trial, first week of May hopefully. The boat is inside a storage building behind a few other boats, so arrangements need to be made to get other boats launched, and then this boat can go in.
Feeling like a long wait right now! Really looking forward to it.
I saw you are launched, it must be pretty cold boating in April?

James when the weather isn't that great we use the boat as a second home. I have 2 16,000BTU Heat pump/ air conditioners along with supplemental electrical heat so we are quite comfortable. Yesterday was a big day here at my Marina I finally got my guys down here and we installed 2 high power WiFi systems one covers the marina and probably the other marina across the creek and the other should cover a few miles of Little Egg Bay. The AP's are free for anyone to use. I can monitor both systems so abusers can be blocked. I am working on a few projects on my boat as well, got the 16' VHF antenna installed and wired to my main helm VHF radio and I am now working on installing my Class B AIS system. I also got to meet Dave (CurrentSea) and Walter from here on the board. So back to the topic we are plenty warm today at the dock, yesterday the weather was picture perfect not like today cool and windy. Keep us posted when and if you get the boat it is a smaller version of mine and my wife and I really love our 40SB Mainship.
Best of luck. Bill

There are a lot of great deals on boats right now. An uncooperative seller would suggest to me to keep looking.
