I received the following email from Bill Wells, who attended the meeting yesterday:
"They are supposed to have the video of yesterdays meeting with Deputy Interior Secretary David Hayes and state officials posted by the end of today at the following link link. The first several hours was the same old stuff about how they have two goals to save the environment and have a reliable water supply and the conclusion that there needs to be a peripheral conveyance.
There was a Delta issues panel consisting of: Tom Birmingham of Westlands Water District, Roger Patterson of Metropolitan Water District, Supervisor Mike McGowan of Yolo County, Supervisor Don Nottoli of Sacramento County, and Kim Delfino of the Defenders of Wildlife.
One of the highlights was Tom Birmingham of Westlands giving a dissertation on all they do to protect the environment and then complaining about agricultural runoff from Yolo County polluting the Sacramento River.
Two members oh the Hoopa tribe spoke about how the Trinity River has been destroyed to ship more water to the Central Valley. Bill Jennings spoke. We had to leave to go to the mixer so we missed much of the public comment period. The meeting was supposed to end at 5:00PM and public comment was the last thing on the agenda so they managed to fill up all the time with inane opinions and credentials of the public officials attending, then they said that only eight people turned in cards to speak so a hue and cry developed from the audience that apparently many of the cards had vanished so they formed a line of speakers which looked like about 20 folks waiting to talk including Chris and Dawn from Eddo's.
They decided to extend the meeting beyond 5:00PM. In a great display of arrogance many of the government and water district officials left prior to the public comment period. Anyway my point is that if you watch the video the worthwhile part is the public comment period at the end.
The above is my opinion of the event naturally, others may have seen things differently.....
