I need some help finding parts for a 74 carver sedan I bought this summer. It was boat house kept most of its life but the last five years before I bought it it sat uncovered wit h no maintnance to speak of. consequently living in the great NORTHWEST the teak and zincs took a beating. infact the zincs were non exsistant. I sanded the teak but need to know where I can find a pair of struts for the prop shafts. Has anyone replaced there struts lately.

Hmmm, our dealer guys might be able to help out once they see this thread. About 15 years ago I replaced a strut on my 1975 Mariner and was able to get a brand new one through a Carver dealer. I don't know if they can still get them. If not, you might be able to go to a Propeller Repair company and they might be able to find an aftermarket setup that will work...

The teak you can take off (for the most part) and refinish in your basement, like I did years ago. The zincs are standard - if your boat is a 28 your shafts are likely 1 1/4" and you'll need 3" zincs for the rudders. I'm not sure what the 33s had...

SITE NAME DELETED BY MODERATOR...

Forgot to say, i have a74 mariner, good luck

I need to put on my moderator's hat here and interject that posting to the above forum, while its a great forum and I do post on it myself from time to time, is verboten under the rules handed down to me by Les. I could be a meany and delete the post, but I'm going to leave it up this time as it is of value and pertinent to the question asked (as long as Les doesn't come on here and say anything). But please remember we're not supposed to link to competing sites...

As for now - consider me to be Sgt. Schultz ("I zee Nosink, I hear Nosink!!!")

PS - Waldo, good luck with that '74! I used to have a '75 - my parents bought it new and I've had that boat apart a couple of times before finally selling it a couple of years ago. A lot of great memories were made on that boat!!!

Just an update - I misspoke in my above response - POSTING to another forum is not forbidden, LINKING there is under the rules of Boater Ed. Sorry for any confusion. See my "Need Help" thread for more on the subject...

PS - sorry I had to delete the link. I promised the powers-that-be that I wouldn't let the links stay active...

Rules are in place to keep people from spamming this site. I appreciate that this is in place!

Would you fellas please read my "sticky" post about improving this forum, and share some ideas. I'm trying to work within the rules, but I fear that some people are being left out. So please go over to that thread and let me know what you think...
