Can anyone recommend a canvas shop locally?

Considering having some work done.

Harry Parker.

Quality work, will be done when he says it will be, and stands behind what he does. He is NOT the cheapest but trust me, the cheapest sucks!

I'm with Rommer, just had Harry do some work and it was done when he said. Told other boater to go to him last week and he took it somewhere else and job needs to be done over, now double the cost.

Harry's the best around, no doubt, but don't expect the price to be cheaper as Rommer stated.

You get what you pay for, pay cheap you get cheap, pay more you get more.

Great quality work, for a fair price, delivered on schedule.

Yeah, guess who might be doing it next year..[:-eyebrows]

I just had Harry do some repairs on my boat today he is the best in town but not the cheapest.
As long as we're discussing canvas what is the live expectancy of canvas? I not real happy I was told today that my canvas was getting old it's about three years old. It seems a little early to be hearing that.

Harry Parker????

American Canvas out of CT. George and Ronnie.
They come to Stony Point area all the time. They do all the work at the Englewood boat basin. Had my enclosure done, PERFECT job and 1/3rd the price of Harry Parker. And if there is an issue they are right there, and fast turn around. Also had them make a canvas for my CC again perfect job and I'm pickey. I have delt with Harry in the past and his work is good. Ronnie's from American's work is equal but price is different. Ronnie cell 1-914-714-8202

Is that the guy that sews his banner ad on the back of every job he does Wayne?

Yes, and if you have an issue with that he would be happy not to put it on. I don't, the more people that ask me about him the lower price he gives each time I use him. He gave me a supper price for my CC because I sent him two people from his enclosure work.

That's good to hear. Personally I find the banner thing detracts from the overall quality of the work they do.

Rob,
What do you need done?

I need the eisenglass (clear) replaced as it is changing colors.

I had harry replace my front 3 panels 2 years ago and they are on their way out. He did do a very nice job. But the original side panels are starting to turn brown and cloudy in areas. I would really like to see what can be done to eliminate some of those glass panels since its a waste to keep replacing them.

Not to start a war but the biggest cause of vinyl window failing is improper maintenance.

1) NEVER get suntan lotion on them.
2) Keep them clean.
3) Keep them clean.
4) Keep them clean.
5) Use a cleaner that attempts to re-add the plastisizer stuff that keeps them supple. (The Imar products are good at this)
6) Keep them clean.

Oh did I mention about keeping them clean? The use of harsh detergents, waxes, rain-x, and waxes must be avoided.

If all you need is glass I would agree I had Craig do this for me last year and it came out fine and he was cheap and quick.

Bill Fennel is reasonably priced, does a good job and will come to your boat, give him a call at 570 242 2357

I agree on keeping them clean. The front ones are starting to go due to the fact they are not flat or taught. They have some little folds in them. I think someone coming to the boat and redesigning them would fix that. The sides are 5 years old adn one side is fine but the side the sun hits is turning brown.

Jon - Maybe you provide a clinic on cleaning these windows over a few beers this weekend?

I replaced all my windows 2 years ago and look like new still, ask anyone who knows my boat. The trick is cleaning every weekend and putting a protectent on them. I use Imar products.
