Canvas

There's a surprise! The man/staff does great work but wow, the prices are sky high...

Rob;

We found the same thing. We had Patino and Parker give us a price for a complete new cockpit, (seats, combing, rugs), Harry's quote was 3X as much.

I know he has a good reputation but his work ain't 3X better then the competion. As i stated Patino is slow, but the quality is there.

I agree - But if its not going to be done until mid summer - might as well just wait until the fall and get it cheaper since we would miss those weekends and only have a few left.

the tops is OK but it shrank. The glass is shot - can not see through it and it barely fits. More water gets into the boat than it keeps out.

Parker is so far off the charts, I can't believe that anyone would use him.

Patino does nice canvas work, but you have to keep on top of him or you'll be waiting a looooooong time.

Patino did my canvas work last year. I had the entire canvas/glass replaced & redesigned as well. I have a 2002 280 Chaparral Signature. The original design was a nightmare. The bimini came under the radar arch like yours & water just poured in. John attached it to the arch instead, extended it back to the stern, the bimini is now the vinyl backed type, redesigned the pole structure and replaced all the plastics with Stratoglass. The fit is perfect & not a drop of water ever enters my cockpit now. I also think he gave me a fair price. It wasn't the fastest job, but I don't think someone faster would have done it better. You are welcome to come over to see it if you want. I am on B dock at Penny Bridge.

FYI anyone who is going to install vinyl sindow with new snaps wait till its hot out. if you snap them on when its cold and then it gets hot they can droop and sag in the heat.

However, if you put the snaps on when it's really hot and do not leave enough space for contraction when it's cool, you'll never get them snapped in cooler weather.

Good point John. Not a lot of 30-40 degree days in Flordia!

marsij - patino took me to see your boat - It was very nice work and exactly what I want. If I am going to miss most of the summer I might as well wait to the fall and get it cheaper then.

Glad you got to see it rob. He really did do a great job & considering it was a total redesign, it could have gone very, very badly. Obviously it did not. I'm sure he will do a great job for you as well.

Hurry up Judy, file a patent on your design. Then we can get a cut....

Lol...always thinking Butch!! Hopefully I will be seeing you in a couple of hours.

Did you ask to have the price from Harry lowered? I remember when he did work for me, I asked him to provide a better price, and he did.

Moral of the story.... This is a WEEEEEENTER project......

I find all vendors amazing!

I will be shopping around for something, and ask different vendors to quote me their "best" price.
Without exception they will each either later lower their price, or tell me when they quote that if I get a better offer to please give them a last look.

This says a lot about how they view us as customers.
