Hi,
I'm going to leave the carpet n the cabin alone, it's ok and it's been protected by a canvas "runner" that snaps into place over it. The runner is shot, and anstead of replacing it with another canvas runner, I'd like to get a rug done in roughly the same shape as the runner.
Anyone in the huntington or lindenhurst area that someone can recommend?
Thanks,
Keith

I cant think of the carpet guy. IT was a father and son then split up. Some use the son , Some use the father.

Im sure someone will chime in

It was Golden Carpet, but the # has changed... Don may have it.

+1 ......for Golden Carpet. They are in West Babylon....their # is 631-321-7801

John Sr & John Jr.

I thought the son went off on his own and is doing most of the work from his house in east islip. But they did good work at a very fair price.

I haven't been following the drama......but your right Brad.... Jr. did go off on his own.....but I THINK.... after the split....they reconciled. Now if that would only happen with Paul Sr & Jr......life would be good again !

Let me ask you guys something. Kind of a stupid question I think. The boat I am planning on getting, needs new interior carpet. Its got the salon, then three steps down to the galley then straight ahead the vberth.

Can I go to Lowes to their carpet department, or like a regular carpet store? Seems logical no?

Is there a difference in carpet, from a "marine" carpet place or a house carpet place...?

I have one more question, kind of related to this. I was thinking of taking out carpet and putting in synthetic teak in cabin. Any recommendations for this?

B/C.....IMHO there is no difference if your going to glue the carpet down and make it permanent. Just use a good quality carpet...on a solid base.... and you should be OK using it inside the cabin.

The Marine carpet is the carpet used in the outside cockpit.... with the rubber/vinyl backing.....that is normally installed with snaps. Thats how I understand it.

You may want to ask Golden Carpet if they have any advice.

I used A-1 Carpet on Sunrise Highway in West Babylon 2 years ago and was very happy with the job that was done. He does quite a few boats yearly from what I found out.

I'm still waiting to hear back from Golden, left them a message two days ago. If I don't hear back I'll try A-1....

I might also stay away from anything with natural fibers in it as they tend to retain moisture more than synthetics.
Some household carpets have some wool content in them. Stay away from those.

Jmac,
Walter and Dave turned me on o TT Custome marines . Google it. . Thy re coming up next month to do my cockpit

Rob

Jmac,
If you are looking and Travis from TT is going to be coming up from SC to LI, now is the time to pull the trigger. The more boats he does on a trip up the better the price is. The local guy that does this is wayyyyyyyyyy to expensive. We had four boats done when he did ours, the price was less than half of the local guy, just an FYI

When you call mention Robs name, he too should get a discount on his job. Tell Travis I said so :)

I went on the ttcustommarine website. Is the number to call from Marine Pro Custom Boatworks? That is the South Carolina installer.
