By chance does anyone have any info on fuel burn for a 1995 carver 355 w/7.4 mercs. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks nomad

Nomad, I have a 1999 Carver 356 with 7.4 Crusaders. There is not a huge difference between the two. I have GARMIN fuel sensors installed. I am going from memory on these numbers, but it will give you a good estimate. Ranges below are in the Chesapeake Bay with various winds and currents with a full load of gear for 4 people.

7-9 knots 1100-1400 RPM 8-11 GPH
22 knots 3400 RPM 38-42 GPH
any faster, just cry.

John

27, thanks for the information. We haven't had the boat long enough to check consumption rates.

Hello, not to get too far off track, but I think we have the same engines and I'm looking to get fuel sensors to send fuel flow information to a new chart plotter I'm buying. Are the Garmin sensors you use NMEA 2000 compliant? If not, what kind of setup do you have? Thanks

I have the Garmin GFS 10 Fuel sensors and a Garmim GPS Map 740 all wired with NMEA 2000. I assume it is compliant with other chartplotters that are NMEA compliant. The sensors basically just insert into the fuel line and get no readings from the engines directly. They just measure the amount of gas going through the fuel line.

Thanks for the reply. I've looked at the Garmin sensors, but I we must have different setups as I think mine have return fuel lines. Because of this I can't use the Garmin sensors.

I went to the Floscan site and the offer fuel sensors but they are connected to digital display gauges.

Does anyone know of sensors I can buy to interface with my MFD (NMEA2000)?

Or maybe I should start a new topic...
