Many of the interior padded vinyl panels on my Carver have no visible mounting screws. Today i found that they are held in place with velcro.

Yes, many are on my boat as well, which makes it nice to get behind stuff. But there are a few areas that I have yet to figure out that I don't think are Velcro.....

some of the panels use christmas tree fasteners on Carvers as well.

Christmas Tree fastner?

Kind of like those wedge thingies that fasten cardboard-backed auto upholstery panels to doors?

Well...kind of...they are plastic inserts that have several fins on them that lock into a hole in a panel and then into a hole into a bulkhead etc...most assembly line boats are using them or something like them nowadays

Can panels with "Christmas Tree" fasteners be pulled out and the reinserted? Is there any trick to it?

Thanks.

Stan

They can be pulled off and re-installed..you have to locate the fasteners and be very carefull when pulling as to not damage any surrounding wood or vinyl

On my 406 many of the pads are in hangers. Pull them straight up, towards the sky. And to replace the pad just slide it back in the hanger. I figured that out by mistake after working for hours tring to remove the pad on my aft cabin bunk.
