Carver's New Models

I'm kinda partial to the 36 SS, or that beautiful Marquis 40SC

I just wish they'd make something I can afford. I might be able to get a 36 when its 20 years old...

Nothing wrong with that so long as you live long enough...

They are working on a couple of smaller boats, still bigger than 30, but 36 won't be the smallest for long. And, it won't be a 33 that grows (in number anyway) to a 36 is 3 years. :-)

The issue there as is always by the time they are produced the price of the 30 footers will cost more than the 36ft cost now.

Why did Carver quit making smaller models?...I heard they couldn't compete price wise with the less expensive mfgs....True or false?...

Carver350, these boats are due by the end of 2008.

carver 2557, They were building them like they were building their larger boats, so they ended up costing more than most of their competition, and not really being any better. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my 2757, but new it was fairly expensive. I left that purchase up to the original owner. I am the second owner, and the first wishes he could have it back. At one point he offered to trade his 1999 Maxum 3200SCR even. I told him no!

I almost didn't. My NBR buddies know I almost had the "big one" (my apologies to Fred Sanford!) at 39 in March 2006. So these days I try not to take anything for granted, even though I'm supposedly healthy as can be right now...

"And, it won't be a 33 that grows (in number anyway) to a 36 is 3 years."

I loved the 33 super sport - the rocket launchers and bait well was a great touch! For those of us who spend more time catching porgies than we do tuna, and a lot more time cruising the waterways, it was a perfect fit...

"...so they ended up costing more than most of their competition, and not really being any better."

You know, I'm not sure if it was that they weren't any "better" as opposed to their not being better suited to the public's tastes. The boating public has completely changed its mind in the last 20 years as to what boating should be, and IMHO its not for the better. But what do I know - I'm one of those dinosaurs that actually likes flybridges and dislikes ECs, who likes the idea of a fish well and rod holders in the back of a plain old cabin cruiser, and for whom the spacious cabin (for a 28') and the big head with shower you can actually use on my boat actually mean something. To everyone else its an ugly old scow, but to me its exactly what a boat should look like. My only regret is that its not 33'...

Saw the Mariner 36 at Annapolis. That is one butt ugly looking boat.

Well...that's totally subjective, but being that as it may, it continues to be Carver's most popular model...has been since the 1970's

LOL rb2@gr5t the mariner comment - put a bimini top on it and it looks TOTALLY different, well, to me anyway....I've got a '99 350 Mariner....essentially the same boat/hull...just a little different interior/bridge layout....still get comments like "that's the best-looking boat at the marina" and similar...it's forward-thinking stylewise, but that's just my opinion.

Sea Ray snobs here, we looked at all the Carvers at the Annaplois Boat Show and fell in love. Looking at the 44, man what a good looking and well laid out boat.

We just traded in our 360 Sundancer for a 444 Motor Yacht. What a great boat. I did not think anything could get me away from Sea Ray but this boat has it beat in spades. It has so much room. We went away on it this past weekend and it ran like a dream. The layout is spectacular and the living space is unbelievable. there is not an area on the boat that is uncomfortable. Good luck to you.

I have to own the 2007 42 SS. It is perfect for me.. Now I just have to do one of three things.. 1). Age 10 years 2). Win the lottery 3). Divorce my win and live on that boat... I think I better call my lawyer.

both the 42 Mariner and 42/43 SS are awesome boats. Age should not be a factor. Many think that Carver's are old people boats, but I'm one to believe, if it's right for you, who cares what others think. Besides...look how many old people own SeaRays!

I'm 36 - bought ours when I was 34...definitely one of the youngest folks with a 30'+ cruiser at our lake...
