So...I work on the Chagrin River just east of Cleveland. On my way into work, as I crossed over the river, I noticed that it was about6 feet higher than it had been all winter so far. So high that it is overflowing it's banks by about a foot. They have the "County Action Team" ready to act...how or what they would do, I have no idea. I've only seen it higher once, 2 years ago when it swept most of the boats moored on the river down stream and out to open water. Luckily there are no boats in the water! I'll try to get some pics and post tonight.

got pics now

The second pic is the normal water height in our liftwell...you can see there is wood lining the top rim of the well

All that extra water is going to make for some interesting obstacles to dodge in the spring Ken. I smell service costs going up for some of the unlucky!

It was already on it's way back down by the time I left work...you could see about a foot of the top rim of the liftwell. It'll probably go back to like 2 feet deep so we'll still have to dredge in spring

I dropped by the marina this weekend to put in a little hull work. I stopped up and talked to John at the store when I noticed all the ice buildup in the channel (inside the marina). Looked like a warzone. John said there were some pretty stiff winds last week that took the water over toward your end of the lake Ram. When the storm let up, he said the water came in faster than he's ever seen it move, dragging the ice in with it. Faster than the speed of boats entering/exiting the marina in summer. Sure made a mess of things at TBM...

Water went back down :( We now have an island right at our liftwells sticks out of the water about 2 feet and is about 70 feet long

Always great pictures when the wind blows the water our way Don...is that Carver 570 Voyager still there...old guy bought it from our dealership? He and his son both had Sea Ray 420 Sundancers...the dad traded his in on the 570, and the son is looking to also.

She was out there last year Ram. Nice looking boat for sure. I drive by "that end" of the marina whenever I want to feel poor, or dream about winning the lottery (and what I'd do with the money).

Ram is still working on me to jump over to CPM, but he has'nt offered to help me commute their yet.

I'll run it with ya...you'll probably be in the high rent district though...over by SLW

Don, I was confused when you said John... I wondered if you were talking about Ram's boss.

Ram, I'm guessing that the commute he's referring to is the additional hour needed to drive his CAR past TBM to get to CP...

For the record, I don't mind the commute at all. In fact, yesterday it took 1 hr 20 mins to get to Harrison Twp. It takes me 1 hr 50 mins to get to CP in the summer.

I'm pleased to report that the water that left Chagrin must've made its way up here. The lake is higher than it's been all winter. The marina had to remove some of the drop ceiling tiles in the roof of the boathouse because antennas were starting to poke through. If only the water would stay...

That's the interesting part of this equation. I don't think the "rent" is any higher in CPM that TBM, and the general conditions + convenience to everything is so much nicer over there. REALLY TEMPTING. Just afraid that extra hour drive would really cut down on the time I spend at the boat. 40 minutes is nice! Now if I had a shuttle service that worked for beer...

SLW,
We have a JOHN in service at TBM. Nice guy!
Harrison Twp, is that home?
