This is my first time winterizing. I have a 4.3L 190HP Volvo-Penta I/O. Today I spent several hours trying to change the oil and lube the lower unit.
1) The guy at West Marine told me it was better to siphon the oild from the Dip Stick hole than to drain. However, I only was able to take out abt 3 quarts that way, is this ok?
I've been having a heckuva time trying to get the oil filter off. When I change my oil on my cars I always change the oil filter, how bad is it to leave the old one on?
2) On the lower unit I cant get the drain plugs out (from the bottom and top) This is a 99' but new to me, and I'm thinking the previuos owner did not ever change or had a mechainc change with air tools, any suggestions. I figured I'd try again on Sat
any advice would be greatly appreciated.
thanks from a newbie,
Mark
