I bought this 2011 Chaparral Signature 270 in the fall and have not used it yet. Its on a trailer for the winter. I have been reading the various manuals and guides I can find. And I can easily read electronic schematics and wiring diagrams.
The boat has 2 batteries, a starting and deep cycle for engine and house loads. But there are 3 battery switches, each with 1-both-2-off. I have yet to figure out what the third one would be for. Cannot find a complete wiring diagram for the boat.
There is a 3rd battery in the front of the boat for the bow thruster and/or windlass. Don't think that is wired through the battery switches. Would be too long a run of heavy gauge cable.
So what function would a 3rd battery switch provide? Seems two can provide all that is needed.
I also need to figure out how all 3 batteries get charged with the engine running.
