Hi - I have 1988 27' Celebrity with a Merc V8. The electrical panel is showing a reverse polarity light whenever I turn on the battery charger. I assume this means the charger is pooched- it is nearly 20 years old. What should I buy as a replacement? The charger itself is in the engine compartment where it gets hot and damp. The charger keeps 2 batteries charged when on the dock and also ( I believe)acts as a converter for the onboard 12 VDC system. Or, is the 12 volt power just coming from the batteries and the charger is keeping the batteries up? I don't really know. There is no schematic for the boat anywhere.Thanks for your help.
