Hey, Guys - I was wondering if the battery charging system on my boat required the batter switch to be turned on. I have charged the batteries with a trickle charger but want to leave the boat's system on for a few days before I launch (I have electric to the boat). So...does the master battery switch have anything to do with shore-power battery charging system?

Thanks!

Doug,

Nope, the shore power battery charger will charge all batteries regardless of the switch position. The engine systems, however, will only charge the battery(ies) selected with the switch

Kenny...it seems there is no battery charger breaker on the 110 panel, correct?

I am headed to the boat today, and on my list is seeing which 110v circuit the on-board charger is wired/plugged into... there's got to be a way to switch it off, if desired, at the panel, no?

Correct. On the older vintage Carvers, the battery charger power is supplied by one of the two receptacle breakers, the other breaker powers receptacles and the fridge.

Yup, confirmed...exactly as you described it, Kenny.

Fridge is tied in to the top (upper) 110 "receptacle" circuit breaker.

Battery charger is tied in to lower 110 "receptacle" breaker.

Thx.
