Chesapeake Bay Cruisers Club

This will be the first year on the Chesapeake for my wife and I. We have owned boats before but never a 23' cruiser. We look forward to meeting everybody!

If it's an open invitation, we'll be there!

Hi,
sorry it took me so long to get back to the postings. Been really busy.
I was thiking that maybe we should have the party sometime in the late spring. That gives everyone time to get their boats in the water, and it could be kind of a shakedown type cruise/party. If we decide to have another party, we could have it later in the summer or fall.
Most weekends in May are open and the first weekend of June is good. Once we get too far into summer, the club starts having affairs and things going on and it gets pretty busy.
So, here are some dates to think about:
May 5/6
1213 but this is mothers day W/E
18/19
26/27 this is memorial W/E but that could be a good thing, 3 days!!
June 2/3 sure to be warm by then!!

Everyone think about it and talk to your S/O's and post which date is good for you. Eventually we'll get this together and have a CBCC party!!

Sandy

Hi Sandy. I really don't know what's going to work for us. We're kind of in a wait and see mode right now. We put an offer in yesterday on a boat in New York, so assuming we actually close on that boat, it probably won't be until late April at the earliest. Memorial weekend would probably work out the best, but many people, including us, usually have family BBQs and such. Hopefully I'll find out more on this boat in the next few days. I'm sure there will be lots of suggestions from everybody. I remember it took quite a while to get everybody to agree on a place and date last time, because everybody has different circumstances, but it'll all work out. I'm working right now the first weekend in June, but if everybody decides on that weekend, I should be able to take vacation. Wasn't the first party about that time, first weekend in June? [:-idea]

I also like the idea of more than one party. Maybe a raftup or two. Those should be pretty easy. I've never actually been part of a raft up, at least not involving more than a couple of boats. First party at Middle River, followed by a raftup or two, then cap off the season with another party? [:-idea]

Well, that boat deal fell through. [V] Didn't trust the broker.... felt compelled to run away. Too bad too.... big boat. Guess I'll keep looking for that new old boat for the party. Not much activity here lately. Guess everybody's busy, like me, working for the summertime.

Sorry to here about the boat deal Mike. But If you don't trust the dealer, it's best not to buy from them. Just think, now you can have the fun of looking for a new boat!!!

I really hope we can get this party together. It will be fun meeting new Chesapeake boaters.

Good luck with your boat buying adventure!!!

Sandy

Yup, that was kind of a bummer. Spoiled us though. That was a 36 ft boat, and now I don't think we'll be satisfied with anything less than probably 34 ft. Oh well, there is a boat out there somewhere with our name on it, and we're gonna bring it to the PARTY!!!!!!!!!!![:-party]

Yeah, I remember that get together. Good times, good times. I nearly lost a filling driving out the next day with those heavy duty winds coming across the Bay. Other names I have not seen lately who were there: Esteban, TedG, RacBoat...

We took last summer off. My wife's company imploded and she took a job up in PA. So we moved back up to the north area. Right now we are looking to put back in. Summit North and a few marinas in the Bohemia River are top possibilities.

Looking to see what the plans are!

Hey Sandy, I should be on vacation May 18 to June 6, so anything in there should work for us. I was planning on taking that vacation period anyway, even if we don't have the party during that period, so really just throwing it out there for info only. I'm actually kinda partial toward the proposed June dates, partly because I'm sure I'll have a boat by then, and partly just for old times sake, since that is about the time we had the first party. Just my own preference, and I'm certainly open to other suggestions. Hopefully we can get some additional input from anybody else who wants to come. Am I right in assuming that the first party, at least non-raftup type, will be at your yacht club Sandy? Not sure if we "officially" decided that, but sounds good to me. Now I have to find a proper boat.[:-sonar]

May 18th sounds good to me....and so does Eastern Yacht Club.
How 'bout it Sandy?

I am new to this forum, and we enjoy getting together with other Chesapeake Bay boaters. We are out every weekend Spring thru Fall, and would be interested in attending.

Also am new to the forum. Usually do more reading than replying!! I am also up for meeting new faces. We usually spend about 40 nights per season on the boat. Probably 85% of the time we anchor or raft up. We do most of our boating above the bay bridge (I like jellyfish free waters at anchor). This years week long cruise is the third week in June. Do not know destinations yet. During the week cruise we are usually a 50/50 split on anchor outs and marina hopping. We used to pull up stakes every day and go to a new location but in the past few seasons we have found it more relaxing to have one or two 2 day stays. Ten years ago our cruises were as many as 15 boats but people have sold their boats or are too busy to take an entire week off. Now we may have only five boats at any one location with some only joining the cruise on days where or when it is convenient or close to them. I will post more if there is an interest. - John

Hi Everyone

It looks like we have some interest in the party!! Yee Haa!!!!
I've been checking at our club to make sure of what dates will be good for our party. I didn't want to plan a date for a weekend that there was a big affair going on there. It looks like the weekend of May 18th is good, also the following weekend, which is Memorial Day w/e, is good. Weekends in June are pretty busy except for 6/1. I have talked to our Dock master, and I just have to give him an approximate number and size of the boats that plan to be there. See above posting for dockage fees and stuff like that.

So, I guess it's time for a vote on which weekend we want to have a party.

#1 May 18-20
#2 May 25-28
#3 June 1-3

Any one that is interested, pick a date. The date with the most picks will be the one. If it's a tie, I'll draw a date from a hat. Fair enough??

Also, anyone that may be interested in coming to the party but hasn't posted yet, please feel free to join in. Just post a message.

BTW,dockage is $20/night per slip, electric included. I wasn't sure about the price in my earlier post.

Looks another party of THE CHESAPEAKE CRUISERS CLUB !!!

Sandy our vote is for June 1-3,2007. Our boat is a 27' Carver Santego with a 10' beam.

#1- May 18-20.
34' Silverton, 12.5' beam. I need 3.5' depth with the inboards. Is the bottom soft?
Floating or fixed docks?

I might also bring along a friend/ slipmate (30' Sea Ray).

Rob

Hi all,
We have fixed docks, soft bottom (mucky soft)
Bring your friend if you like. I put him down for a possible 30' boat. Just let me know!!

We have been following the thread, and our boat is up for sale now with a new one comin in Sep. so it does depend whether we have anything. Sandy we are 48' loa and require 50amp service. Our draft comes close to 4ft. so if this doesen't look acceptable, and since we have never been up the middle river--we might consider driving up for one of the functions to attach more names with faces.

Dusty,
WOW, big boat coming in!!!
We do have slips up to 50'. I'll check this weekend with our dockmaster to see if there will may be one available. If not, we have put the bigger boats on the t-head for some of the affairs at the club, so that should also be an option. It really shouldn't be a problem. I'll let you know after this weekend.

Sandy,
I'll vote for the June dates. Add us to the list. 28' Albin.

Dusty - Don't drive, bring the boat. If you come in a mid-high tide no problem.

Rob - See you there!

Hey Sandy, Put me down for a 36 ft Searay with 14ft beam. It's looking right now, like the only dates that may POSSIBLY work for us, are the June dates. Looks like I may be bringing the new boat down from Long Island as late as Memorial Day Weekend. I'll just have to wing it unfortunately. Thanks Sandy!
