What's good to see and do in the Chester River? Any good anchorages, beaches, etc? Any good places to stop for a bite? Thanks in advance.

Its a bit of a ride up the Chester River but Chestertown is worth a visit. Historic town, county seat (Kent County), home to Washington College, there is a marina to stay at or you can anchor out right off the town. Too many resturants and quaint shops to list. On Saturday's there is a farmer's market of local grown and baked goods in the town park (center of town, 9AM to noon). Lots of events planned for September and October weekends. Let me know when and if you plan to come and I'll let you know what's happening.

The Corsica Rv. ( to starb.) going up is a good anchor, and Langford Bay marina ( port just prior to Chestertown, is a good and friendly marina. One of my places I deliver to told me to go to Rolphs wharf, if get up that way. It is Starb. before Chestertown, and I never got there, but he said best place for a meal on the Chester ? Maybe some other RO can comment. I pass that road to Rolphs' everyday going up 213, and wonder about going back there, but a substanial trip by road.

Looks like I need to find that road to Rolph's Wharf... We are always looking for a new place to put on the feedbag. BTW, Dusty (and anyone else who may be interested), speaking of the Corsica River, if you get to Centreville try Doc's Riverside Grille. Not sure why they call it Riverside since the river appears to be a couple of blocks away. We've never been there by boat, just land yacht but it's now our favorite place for casual dining. The Admiral loves their salads and I drool just thinking about their "surf and turf burger". Good Stuff!!! (And a good beer selection as well).

Mike, I checked that distance and it looks like only 2mi. back there, so I'll check it out. Rolphs' wharf rd. is about 1/4mi. before Jeannies' ( the produce mrkt. on 213. Breakfast spot for me! The cook there is pretty good.
Headed for Fairlee tomorrrow. orders for 55gal. drums of antif. are starting. Fun driving.

Thanks for the info guys. Was on the Chester on Sunday...didn't make it up to Chestertown but did spend some time anchored out in the lower Chester. Very pretty river. I'll be back sometime soon.

We went to Langford Bay Marina for this first time this year with our club. Very nice place. We picked up a mooring ball but ran the dink in for club events. That's a river I need to spend more time exploring.

Dusty - Believe it or not, the admiral and I have never been to Annapolis by boat (the last time I was there was 4/15 Tea Party, but that's another story :-). We're thinking in the next few weeks of coming in with some other boats. Are moorings the way to go this time of year? I'm craving a meal at Boatyard.

I think the moorings are a good idea. Keep in mind the sailbote show starts on Oct 8th thru the 12th, with pwr. 15th--18th.. The moorings east of the bridge are pulled, and the west side is usually booked by vendors for other boats. Most marinas are booked with boats being brought in for the following week, or used broker boats they want to have close for customer showings. Anchoring gets tight due the all who transit thru due to shows. Even Back Creek marinas are usually booked, and if you get something back there, the water taxi makes a trip hourly to back creek.Another place worth asking is Chesapeake Harbor Marina which is just south of Back Creek, and they provide a shuttle downtown via water, but not much to do there. Pricey Rest. Sams'

I'll avoid the shows. With all I have going on each weekend boat-wise for the next month, it'll be late October before we make it to Annapolis (St. Michaels this weekend, B-more the next 3 for different things). Thanks for the info.
