I keep looking for info on Chub, and a summary is that it is "a work in progress" bu mostly on hold and not particularly attractive ( except the docks are nice>

Anyone visited there and have a facility report?

Last time I was there a few months ago it was up and running obviously. And while talking with the folks working there they said some new owner had bought it from the bank/s and we're starting to put money into it. And there were signs of it getting better.

It has very nice docks and the power was OK. Although they have these odd little patio/BBQ owners only areas by the land end of some of the docks that according to the signs you are supposed to walk around instead of through when you are walking from the dock to dock. Which is weird because they are located right along the walk way between the docks.

While the restaurant and fuel dock are open and there were boats coming and going, it's still a very quiet, low key place for the most part. Which is fine by me. That is why I liked the old club. And the beach is still beautiful and un-crowded

If you want something different look at the Berry Island Club on the east end of the island. Much, much smaller and more local in flavor.

In the Spring of '14 we passed through and spent a night. The restaurant was open then as well, but they had a guest section and an owner section which was more roomy and pleasant. No one was in that section, and boaters were not allowed in. As a result the bar area was mobbed and well the food was not that great.
The pool was a salt water pool and was in need of repair. The water quality was suspect to say the least. I will say Chub was a scenic place that offered a break in a long run from Nassau to Bimini, but given CB's report nothing much has happened since '14 when we were there.

Having been to the Berry Island Club back in '10, we skipped that place in '14. The dock was in poor shape and the boat still has a chuck out of it from where it rubbed on a bolt sticking out of the dock. Definitely an "out island" experience.

I haven't been there in a few years. Found it to be overpriced ($4 a ft) and while the docks are nice there isn't much else there worth stopping. I much prefer anchoring out on the east side of the island in the lee of bird cay.

Bird cay, and nearby whale cay, have some ruins that are fun to explore btw.

Chub is on.y surviving because of all the sportfish that troll in the deep water just off the cay

AFAIK Berry island club has closed again

Usually we just bypass the Berrys and even nassa if we don't have to pick up guests there to maximize time in the exumas. Last couple of trips we did Normans - Cat direct which while a 15 hour run at 9kts gives us an extra day in the exumas

More or less what I had found... Thanks guys.

fwiw: The real estate listing for Bird Cay has been taken down. May have a new owner in the near future.
