I was late today taking my lunch time walk along the Embarcadero and was pleasantly surprised to watch the Coast Guard Eagle (only active duty sailing ship) and Fireboat Phoenix escort 32 tall ships into San Francisco Bay, all were under sail. There were several hundred sailboats and a few of the tall ships were firing their cannons making the tourists jump. The tall ships will be here through the weekend you can read about them at the following link. DD

I love the tall ships!!!! Every year I mark this event on my calendar, hoping that I can get over to SF to see it for myself. Alas, again I am unable to see the great spectacle this year.

I took my boat down for a look and caught the parade just as the Eagle was passing Alcatraz. I took some snaps, will try to post soon.

I spent the day (Friday) on the Bay yesterday. Spectacular day and cruised by most of the tall ships. I was hoping to get out on Wednesday for the parade but was stuck out of town for work. We followed the two that were scheduled to do the cannon fight off and on for about an hour or so. Never saw any cannons fired though, which really disappointed the kids on board. Spent about 5 hours cruising the bay finished off going about a mile outside the gate and then back to the slip. Several people on board had never been under the Golden Gate. Another great day.
