eveyone is running their gennies there... we dont' raft up jsut anchor near friends but most boats raft up with the gennies...

Pascal, Sorry for all the questions but I feel like a Virgin going on my honeymoon, be gentle with me.
Do you swing on one anchor or drop a second off the Bow?

unless you anchor in the middle of the maze, everyone is on one anchor and swings around... I guess deep in, people use a stern anchor although they are all so close that it probably doens't matter.

holding isn't very good, a thin layer of sand over rocks/coral, scope and chain is a big plus.

Sorry, I meant second anchor off the stern.

Fueled up and ready. Yes I run the genset most of the time. Wife and daughter must have AC. Better to run it and have them happy. Of course I am not complaining about having AC it can be rather hot. You won't be able to hear any genys running over the rest of the noise and music. Probably won't get much sleep until Sunday night. Are we there yet.

jmas i some times set 2 anchors of the bow just to make me feel better, it's a 2 is better than 1 thing. I too run the genny the whole time, to many things running of 120v, got to have the blender; ice maker; ice scaver and such working at all times!

Pascal/Mario.

What are the named of your Hatts?

Always looking for a nice cold beer!! or Pina Colada..

Saturday morning looks like there could be some interesting weather.

Edit: Removed pic to get the forum sized correctly

nothing has developed, conditions are not favorable, NHC has cancelled recon...

easterly 15kts, that's ideal at elliot... good protection.

After breakfast Sat. morning at the Key Biscanye Y.C. We will be heading out to Elliot Key for some fun..
Looking forward to meeting y'all.

I did not go today, worried about the wind. Anyone that did go that can give me some intel on the conditions out there, still considering going for the day tomorrow.

Weather was brilliant today. no rqin but we registered 30+ knots during the race. Leg two is Sunday and I expect more of the same. Bring sunblock.

Must have been an excelent day for sailing, but what was it like for partying?

Cor

Cor,
An informal interview of returning (and very hot) young adults indicated that the partying was not as good as in the past. "You didn't miss anything". Your mileage may vary...

I walked down the peninsula about 2 hours ago and there were more boats returnin to Blackpoint Marina than leaving. Might be the windy. I don't think I've ever seen it this windy before. Great day for catamarran sailing though.

It was windy for sure! Not quite as bad at the anchorage. I was out with the CGAux on patrol both Sat. and Sun. My first look at this event. Oh my!! Some very interesting blow-up dolls and "items". LOL! Went by Pascal and said hi. I was trying to holler my BE name to him so he would know who I was but to them it sounded like "Nuisance!". No....New Salt! Ohhhh! NOT nuisance! I took a pic. with a friends camera and will get it to you Pascal. Nice seeing you again!

hey Linda, good to see you... hopde you can stop by one day, we always run into you while you're on patrol !

the weather was great !!! fantastic, perfect... 15 to 20 kts all week end, with a few higher gust but that kept us nice and cool. Not as many boats as usual, scared by the weather forecast..., but still a great time. We anchor off the side of the party and just dinghy in a few times for water gun fights... too much noise otherwise. It's great to finally have a good dink, with bilge pump when you get a few buckets of water poured into the boat and nav lights for night time cruising. we took a tour around midnight, beautiful.

with easterly, the anchorage is well protected and the water pretty smooth anyway...

the wind meant many anchoring incidents, which i cant' figure out since our hook set on first attempt and we didnt' move an inch all week end. I got dragged on a couple of times and so were others nearby. it also seem that some drivers cant' see anchor rode... a nice hatt convertible nearby got dragged on 4 or 5 times and his rode cut once. not just small boats, that included a 65'ish MY and a 40' Cruisers... idiots.

Cel coverage was bad, we got the webcam going a few times bt woudl quickly go off line.

yesterday we went snorkeling, poked our bow into the ocean in sandscut but it was real rough. played in the cut for a while testing the dink stability, in the short steep chop (wind agaisnt tide), drifted beam to, etc... that thing is almost as stable as a cat ! We ended up snorkeling on the south side of the cut, bayside (north tip of eliott)... there is a deeper area along the mangrove, nice snorkling. clear water, mangroves are interesting from under water.

posted a bunch of pictures, all PG rated... didn't take the camera during the dinghy runs so no pictures of the topless girls and the old naked men in the core of the party...

I was one of the unlucky ones that got my anchor dragged up only a few hours after dark and ended up right on top of Pascal. When we got knocked loose we were just finishing dinner and a big boat goes right over our rode and we are dragging right over Pascal’s anchor. He was great and helped us out a lot since I had my wife and daughter and only my brother aboard. I was so scared my anchor was going to drag over his and cut him lose but with his help we got around his boat and he cleated us off to his stern and he retrieved our anchor for us. After we went back and reset the hook we never moved an inch all weekend. Big thanks to you Pascal. Hopefully we will get to meet under better circumstances next year. Meanwhile I am off to get about 20 feet of chain.

Just returned back to Boynton Beach. All in all it was a exciting getaway to enjoy ... .Thanks again to Pascal who provided me with some nice restaurant locations for the trip down to Elliot.
At anchor I was able to prepare some great meals that my EV enjoyed..Shrimp stuffed with crab meat, marinated steak and chicken
and of course plenty of rabbit food .
This year it took 3 tries to plant the hook (Danforth). The boats that ran into my rode didn't have a clue moving around after dark, it seemed a number of them were impaired.
I watched the Sheriffs detain at least a half dozen boaters for being under the influence.. This year they set up a tent on Elliot for those people to sober up before they would let them go.Lucky the wind was blowing or those prisoners would have been eaten alive by those mosquitoes . We met some new folks and enjoyed seeing again Pascal and his lovley "Crew".
btw Cell service has a marked improvement around Elliot key.
