I think it is smart that CCWD is taking an active role in protecting its water quality. However, what is to stop them from drawing from both sources at the same time if they have the need for more water? Isn't this just a wolf in sheep's clothing?????/

I considered that possibility, too. Unless the current project is running at 1/2 capacity, it looks like CCWD would have to double the carrying capacity of the current facility running between Contra Costa and False River. The alternate intake project does not include those improvements.

To be sure, I guess we would need to know the maximum pumping capacity of the facility CCDW is using now.

Wow, $100MM for a pipeline that short short? I wonder how much better the water quality is there (Victoria)? I'm sure it's been studied to death, just seems to such a minor change...?

I think they should tack on as much diversion as possible so it would be added our usage and hopefully reduce what is sent south. We should demand a full measure of our water supply. We should NOT have to go into water deficit BEFORE the wasteful Southlanders do.

That goes for sending water out of state as well...as in the Klamath River debacle. Another example of the Bush administration mismanagement.

Sorry, jtybt15, but the Klamath River debacle started under the Bill Clinton admin. But Bush continued it.....
