I see that all yacht are invited to the Corinthian Yacht club opening day parade and blessing of the fleet. I beleive the parade runs up the Racoon straight. Has anyone joined this parade or, even just watched it?

Hey Phil, are you going to be the Delta Parade Apr 21 out of SJYC? I'll be on the docks all day encouraging folks to have a Vessel Safety Check while they are there! Everyone is welcome .... you do not need to be a yacht club member to be in the parade or come to the club.......

Phil, What is the best location on the water to watch the parade, or following along with it? Our boat could probably use the blessing...

Great! I just heard that the Coast Guard will again be participating in the parade for the first time in many years! This is going to be a great parade!!!!!

From shore, the best place to watch the blessing would bw Sams in Tiburon I would think. The Opening Day parade would be easy to watch from Pier 39 or Fishermans Wharf. You can participate in both parades in your boat. you need to register for the Opening Day Parade at the PICYA web site. The blessing is a free for all (in a nice orderly fashion).

The one time I was on the water during Opening Day, there was nothing orderly about it! Boats were going every which way and no one seemed to know what to do or where to go. May be that one year was an exception.......

Thew Blessing Parade is what I was referring to there. The Opening Day Parade can be something of a Monkey Hump if people don't pay attention to pre-event instructions and boat numbers.
