Hi
I am wondering what they mean by "creel limit " on fishing regulations . Does that count refer to each fisherman or the entire boat ?
exxample - SUMMER FLOUNDER (FLUKE)
Length: 21 Creel limit: 2

so me and another fisherman on my boat - we can have 2 total or 2 each for a boat total of 4 ?
 
that usually means per person, so with 2 in the boat, the creel limit for the people on board should be 4 fish.

good to know - i got boarded by DEP saturday ., we had caught 2 legal stripers if the regulation applies per fisherman.

they were not happy that we cleaned the fish offshore and didn't save the rack of the fish
 
Up here in BC, you MUST keep the head, spine and tail INTACT if transporting your catch. It is the only way to do a proper measurement on the fish, so I can see their point. We get 'em home, and off goes the tail and head.....and BBQ'D!!!!!!!
 
A "Creel" is the little Wicker Basket thing the fly fishermen strapped on while wading to keep the fish in.
So Creel limit is the individual fisherman's limit.

Alaska has some strange reg's on that.
One year we had a very large run of Dog Salmon returning.
A bunch of us went down to the Beach and set up the Cookers under a tarp. Had the kids carrying wood etc.
We all fished off the Beach with what we called a "Seward Spider Fly" which is a huge Treble hook with an ounce of lead at the shank.
Casting it out as far as you can, and do the "Seward Twitch" all the way in till you hooked something.
It was Chopped up and went into the Cookers as it was still squirming.
If the Fish was "processed" it didn't count against your limits.
