Cruise around Manhattan

I couldn't find a picture of a Kennedy Fried Chicken box with rocks and dirt in it so this will have to make do!!!

Unless you took a pic of it after it came crashing down on you foredeck???

Be glad it wasn't the real thing...In Massachusettes, they have Kennedies driving off bridges.

I'd gladly take a Kennedy with rocks than a Kennedy on the rocks (hiccup!).

Found a pic that might have been the actual box used in the assault!!!

OK...I give up...Burgers Doner & Spare Ribs. What is Doner?
Ted C. in all the times I've been through the Harlem River I've never experienced anything like you've heard about.
WALSHIE, nice play on words.

I know a guy (for real) that had 2 .22 cal rounds put into his Sea Ray, missing his fuel tank by a couple of feet.

Many many years ago.

I'm sure today they are using 9mm's and not those puny .22's!!!!

Thanks, thats good to hear.

So we shouldn't eat before going, as the locals may welcome us with some local food.

So if I see anyone on the bridges, I'll motor through kind of quick swerving like I am BUI.

It looks like we are on for Friday afternoon. Hopefully the gang members will still be sleeping.

I'll bring some rocks just in case!

Have done this many times. No negative problems to report. The Harlem is not all no-wake, but for you throttle jockeys who love WOT, perhaps this river is not for you. You already know to keep a good lookout on the water. While transiting this area it is not a bad idea to be observant for who is on the bridges too. I have had denizens throw rocks with the apparant intention of hitting my boat in other areas considered so safe as to be unremarkable. Hasn't happened on the Harlem River yet, so I would not be put off from another transit of the area.

We've done it many times (the Harlem River) and although we have seen people on the bridges, they were more wishing they were us, instead of offending us. Just keep your eyes open and use your judgment. If they have all sorts of stuff near by then perhaps avoid that section since there are usually two ways to go. But I do know folks that carry a 12 gauge and make it visible for special occasions.
Besides, and hopefully, they have added additional fencing since Mike had his special delivery. It would have been ugly if it was pizza. (But seriously Mike glad no one was hurt?).

Well we had a little change in plans. We got a late start Friday and didn't head out till 5:50. We made a nice run down and when we got to Spytan Dyvil, it was later than we had planned. We were heading over to Cornetta's for dinner afterwards, and I thought going around Manhattan (and part of the return in the dark) would have made us miss dinner. We ended up taking a nice cruise to Battery park and back up. It was a really nice ride and I would like to finish the loop next time. The only crazy part was the ferries going back and forth, throwing a huge wake at me.

Interesting note, going down running 3800 RPM's was getting us 28 MPH SOG.(against the current) Coming back up the river 3800 RPM's got us 31.5 MPH SOG. Going with the current really made a difference.

I'll have to make a seperate trip for the chicken suprise on the Harlem river!

Thank you everyone for your input! :)
