Cruise from Annapolis to Block Island

I have been to Annapolis from NJ on my boat, so I kinda know the trip.

As others have said, the Jersey coast is easy to do. I prefer to run outside. I would not recommend Barnegat Bay, as it is constantly shifting and a tricky bit of piloting to get through. Besides that, the inside is fine, but again, I prefer the outside. I usually run a few miles offshore, to cut down on wave action.

Cape May to NYC can be a 1 day easily. But for a more relaxing trip, maybe 2 days is in order. A stop at the Shark River is a good thing, as there are nice marinas there.

I would not recommend a trip around Manhattan, as once you go north of Harlem and go into the Harlem River, you do not see anythign of real interest and are in a no wake zone for an hour+.

My 391 handled the couple trips with ease, so I am sure you would be just fine.
 
i did that run in the spring on the way to Nantucket...

forget the Jersey ICW with a 5' draft... dont' even think about it.

Annapolis to cape may is easy in one day, although the Delaware can be a really PITA when the winds pick up. Get in the Cape May canal and stop at one the marinas there... Utsch is a good stop (stay close to the marina breakwater coming in, it gets skinny further off)

Cape May to NYC is another day, entering NY Harbor is breathtaking. Liberty landing is a popular stop, The North Cove in Lower Manhattan is more $$$ but if you're going to stay just one night, it's worth it.

You can do NYC to Block in one day, but you may as well enjoy a stop in LI sound somewhere... I love the Thimbles on the CT coast, about halfway. Going up the east river and into LIS is a very scenic and enjoyable run.

don't miss Newport, it's jsut across the sound from Block... I must say i fail to see what the attraction is with Block, but maybe it' s because we stopped there too early in the season (late may, there were only a dozen boats in the harbor). Newport on the other hand is terrific, especially on a mooring... great value. The cliffwalk is a must do.

If you didn't tour the island then you really didn't do Block Pascal. The south side of the island, know as the Mohegan Bluffs, is breath taking! And that's just one example of what you missed.
 
i know... it was just too early in the season and too cold!!
