Hi,

As I listed in another post, I am looking for Sea Ray 350 but unfortunately, I can not find one in the blue hull with Axius.

My next choice is a Crusers 360 express. Can anyone give me a reason to try and stay with Sea Ray and settle for a different color or style boat rather than go with Cruisers. I have heard that Cruisers makes a nice boat but i don't know if they are on par fit and finish with sea ray.

Any help would really be appreciated.

Thanks,

Alan

See your other thread.

They MADE a nice boat. They close this time of year for a couple of weeks. They just announced a longer shut down. I'm betting on a really looooong shut down. The fit and finish appears to me to be every bit as nice as SR. I don't like their circular forward hatches.

Cruisers yachts make an excellent boat. There are few who would say they are not on par with Sea Ray and many (particularly Cruisers owners) who would say they are superior. It is certainly a brand anyone comparison shopping in this class should consider. I am a former Sea Ray owner (still a huge fan of the brand) who spends a lot of time boating with Cruisers owners. I have spent a lot of time on their boats and the quality has always impressed me.

The Cruisers 360 also has an additional 1/2' of beam and a slightly greater LOA than the SR 350. It's also almost 2,000 lbs. heavier. One significant difference in the cockpit layout between the two is the forward port lounger in the Cruisers vs. the single forward seat in the 350. It's certainly not at the top of the list for why you should choose one boat over another, but I have found that it is a big item on the personal preference list in this class.

As a former cruisers owner and a former SeaRay owner, I can say I was happier with my Cruisers.
The fit and finish on the inside was much better on the Cruisers.
The fit and finish on the outside was much better on the SeaRay.
The mechanicals were better on the Cruiser.
The ride was better on the Cruiser, but then again the cruisers was a twin engine and the Searay a single.
The performance was better on the Cruisers as they have a better chine design.
The Searay had parties and tie-ups, the cruisers didn't.
You decide.
If I was looking in that range, I would go Cruisers.

Having had many express SR's, and been on many Cruiser Express boats, I think they both are about equal in fit/finish, but one thing I noticed about cruiser express boats, they just seem to have more room...in the cabin, on the deck, helm seems to be up higher for better visability, etc... and personally I like the walk through windshield better than side decks, though I think the new 350 has the walk through...

The new 350 is a nice boat however, and is very user friendly, the new design is a tep in the right direction for sure...

A few requirements for us (in our express cruisers) have been a seperate shower and an island berth for the master, there's nothing worse than mopping up the head after showers and trying to make a bed that's stuck at an angle in the bow, I know I'd seen a few cruisers in this size that still do the angled berth, what a pita...

Now when it comes to bridge boats, been on both as well, and SR won out when we purchased the 420, simply due to an awesome sized galley and two large seperate showers and 3 staterooms..

Not sure if this helps at all, but I would certainly own a cruisers express, however, if it is a concern for you, you may wish to see if they are a cored hull, as I don't think the new 350 SR's are...

Oh, and I too have heard good things about Cruisers service... If you ever get up to Green Bay, take a plant tour, it's pretty cool!

Good luck!

Lou

The Cruisers is a cored hull...which leads one to wonder why it is 2000lbs heavier than a similar sized Sea Ray? Cruisers does however take great strides in making sure water doesn't get into the coring such as put "windows" in the coring where all thru hulls are placed as well as where the transducers would be placed. They also end the coring before the top of the hull and seal it with fiberglass to keep water from intuding from the hull to deck joint.

I vote for the Cruisers I come real close to buying a 4270 last summer they make a great boat well laid out and good handling. I have never been overly impressed by the Searays although they look great I don't love the lay out as much and I don't think the hold up as well. But that only my opinion. I'm sure there are many that would disagree with me.

Crusiers makes a fine boat nothing wrong with them.

I currently own a Sea Ray, got a better deal thats all.
The only 'gripe' I have is the galleys are small on Certain Crusiers models.
And the difference in floor plan will tend to push a buyer one way or another.

And this is a big rumour Like Bliss says I have heard about a loooong shut down as well.

We have looked at both and have always had both on our next boat list. Our slip neighbor owns a Cruisers too, same size as our Sea Ray.

The biggest difference we noticed is how they handle. In similar seas, our Sea Ray seems to handle better and feels more solid, it actually feels heavier and seems to roll less on the water.

You do get more cabin beam in the cruisers as the gunwales are narrower. We like the gunwales on our Sea Ray and would not give them up. We also notice quite a bit more surface rust on stainless parts/nuts/bolts on the Cruisers compared to our Sea Ray.

Either way I think both are good boats.

Why not look at all brands. Sea Ray is selling the name, they are nice boats but there are plenty of others out there that are as good if not better than Sea Ray. I have owned many different kinds, including 2 SeaRays, and have found most to be of good quality. I would check out Cruisers, Regal,Doral,FourWinns, just to name a few. I currently own a Regal and must say that is top notch and the factory is first class.
When buying a boat I feel you need to keep your mind open to different ideas. Its all about the deal and layout. You cant go wrong with any of those I listed.
