I was talking to a dredge operator the other day and he mention a toll free number for current tidal information on the Chesapeake. I though it was pretty cool so I put it my phone and was going to post it here. The problem is, the phone and I took a little swim yesterday :(

Does any one have the number by chance?

Oh cm'on....I want to hear more about the phone taking a swim with you. Last season, my phone (not me with it) took a cool dive into the harbor at St. Michaels!

Hey Mike, that is pretty cool but the number I was taking about is a recording of real time tide heights and direction from a number of locations, not tide predictions. I called it 3 times in 3 minutes and received different info every time, so it's updated pretty quickly.

I love my new phone btw :)

wwrkalot-- I don't know what carrier you have, but I have a Verizon phone (made by Casio) that is waterproof for up to 30 minutes.

I wonder if there's a similar tide service up here.

Joe, that's real cool!

This number was for the Chesapeake specifically. There was no need to enter the station number. You pressed "1" and it rattled off 5-8 current tide reports from Baltimore, Thomas Point, etc.. It would give the location, tide height, and whether it was falling or rising. You didn't always get the same locations every time... maybe they had no report or they just randomly picked a few?

I think a friend may have the number in his phone. If he does I'll post it here.

To late on the waterproof phone I'm afraid. I'm not too worried about it... I've only had one wet phone in 10 plus years.

Randy: I ate at the Crab Claw on Sun. and heard a phone ringing?? Someone must have been calling you !!

Very cool Bryce. Could definitely come in handy.

By the way - if your phone actually made it back on the boat with you, they will sometimes work if you take the battery out and let it all dry out. The really bad things happen when you fire it up and something is still wet.
