Finally got around to popping the heads. Found rust and frozen cylinder in #8. Guess ya gotta expect the unexpected with 30+ year old blocks.
Now I gotta make some decisions. See if I can sleeve it and save the cost of a new set of pistons. Try to resurrect the other 400 bloock that's .040 over(it's a 817 though) and buy new pistons or do a 383 with one of the 350's laying around and still have to probably buy new pistons. My preference would be to find another 400 with 509 casting. Seems some of the 817 had nickle alloyed as well as tin. I can give myself a couple months to find the elusive 400.
