Has anyone noticed if there is still lots of debris in the river? I know no one is out there now but what does it look like from shore. I was hoping if the river froze the ice would carry the snags away but no ice this year. Wondering if we will be able to get out there the beginning of april for striper fishing or will there be too much junk.

I'm down by the river everyday. There is nothing more than normal debris in the river now & it looks much cleaner than it has in months. I guess it's finally starting to settle. Spring will have it's usual debris challenges but it looks nothing like it did after the storm! You will have a pretty normal April for fishing.

+1 for Marsij's eval - - I cross the Bear Mt. Br. twice a day, and there's nothing out of the ordinary for this time of year . . . 'cept there's no ice. Even the water color is back to a normal blue/green. . . no more chocolate milk.

And while I'm just an anxious as the next boater to pull shrink wrap, I would think it's too early to predict River Debris Conditions for April!

Hows the debris in the offshore water down in the keys?

The dolphin love to hide under it. Cast over to it and enjoy a tasty meal!

I would think that with the lack of snow, the spring melt will be minimal, and there will be very little debris as a result.

+1 if there is no flooding in the Spring it could mean easier striper fishing since trolled lines will not snag as much.

There isn't much debris in the water here except for the 3' 2by4 I hit in Largo Sound last year. It broke my transducer mount. I'm not looking for junk in the water like at home because there usually is none. They are getting lots of dolphin but you have to go 5 miles or so past the reef. My boat is too small to go out that far. I have been doing good 2 miles out at the patch reefs. Lots of hogfish. I got several 18". They taste good. Last time out there was 1/21. Too much wind since. Been fishing in Jewfish creek. Got a 17" mangrove snapper there wednesday. It also was delicous. As to debris in the Hudson, in the fall we were in Newburgh and saw all the large trees hung up in the Modena Creek. We also drove up to the Cold Spring beach and it was all covered with large logs and stumps. There was no beach. I figure all this junk will eventually get out to the river. We will have to wait and see.

Hogfish is good eatin', so are the Mangroves.

My inlaws are down there now. You might catch them at the beach.

Enjoy the sun!!!
