IMO that looks like you have the HD option. Yours looks to be rubber, metal, rubber. Mine is metal, rubber, metal (basically an aluminum extrusion channel with a rubber filler).

Your boat looks great. Can I borrow your picture to show some friends, at least till I have a real picture of mine, out of storage.

Also, did you install that spotlight? I like the looks of that over the bridge mounted one.

Again, love the picture, you made my day!

Jim

Hi Jim. By all means, you can borrow the picture. I fully understand your excitement. The previous owner installed the light on the pulpit. Like you, I also prefer it there to the front of the bridge, as it doesnt illuminate the foredeck which could destroy your night vision. We wondered if it might get in the way when anchoring, but that wasnt the case....it was fine. This spring will find a new windlass there to make that job even easier....well, easier for my wife anyways. The boat is in great shape, but most of that credit must go to her previous owner. Now it's up to us to keep her that way.

Hi Terry,
Yes, you have the heavy duty molding. Your boat looks like it's brand new...just how old is that picture? LOL...just kidding...she looks great!

Thanks very much Peter....had I known I'd be posting it somewhere I would have tidied up the fenders! The picture was taken 6 months ago in Port Rawson Bay, south of Parry Sound On.

The boat came out of storage today and both engines fired up just fine. Needs a tune up and a lot of elbow grease and I will be ready to go (as soon as I decide which marina to go to!). I will be scheduling a survey tomorrow. Cleaned up photo's to come within a few weeks.

Jim

PS, good news....

The boat was in a storage building so I couldn't see too well butt....

thought I would need new batteries, don't, they were new last summer and are in great shape.

thought I would have to replace canvas, won't, it needs some snap repair here and there but is in good shape.

thought I would need the perephrial, don't, she has life preservers, anchors, lines, bumpers, cleaning and maintenance supplies, etc., that all will be included.

I commented in an earlier post about the condition. Now that she is in daylight, it is even better that I could have ever imagined. It looks like it was bought in 1986, gently used and stored in a (dusty) time capsule till now.

Ohh Happy Day!

Allright! That's the kind of news we like to hear :) !!!

Are you certain it's a Carver??? ;>

Well, the survey is complete. The major issue found was that the stringers under the mid interior section were found to be rotten. The surveyor said that the glass is at least 1/4" thick and the only time I would have an issue is at resale. The engine compartment stringers, as he put it, were surprisingly dry and in exceptional condition. Everything else was very minor (suggestions to add high water alarm, replace stbd fuel hose, repair core in swim platform in a year or two, etc.). He said that because of the stringers in the interior section, he had to appraise it low at $24,000. When I told him I had an accepted offer of $9500, he said he would have the report to me first thing Monday to take to the bank to finalize the paperwork and that I should get it completed ASAP so they don't change their mind.

I spent 7 hours detailing the interior compartment and have a very clean, like new interior. There is some spider poop on the white dinette cushions I can't get out, but other than that, I am happy, happy, happpy!

Once I get it waxed and floating I will send some more pictures.

That was the standard gunwhale molding...we never ordered our boats that way...always went with the "heavy duty" stainless over rubber...so, that boat came from Brockway Marine...which went out of business in the early 90's

Ram,

In going through my paperwork, I found the original card from the guy who sold it.

The boat was originally purchased new by a bigshot from the lorain ford plant. It sat in storage in 89 and was covered in drywall dust over at camp perry in a warehouse. The people I bought it from said they bought it from Sima in 1990 (for $41,000). The card I found in the books is an old light blue Sima Marine card, tent folded, with "CHRIS CRIBBS" typewritten in at the top.

Thought you may enjoy.

Wow..Chris is still with us...he is the salesman at the Catawba store. He's a good guy...close to retirement as he spends his winters in Seattle. 1990 must've been about when he started if his name is typewritten on the card.

I mistyped. They paid $42818.00 in 1990. Does that seem right? It would have been used 3 years and like brand new.

Jim

not sure about pricing back then, but, if I remember correctly, that was about a $55,000 boat new. They still sell for in the upper 30's normally

Sounds good. Surveyor says that if I fixed stringers under cabin sole ($5-7g), I should have no problem getting $30-$35 for it. I shampooed the carpet Saturday and it looks like brand new. Had a dumb ass attack and left a bottle of cleaner on the teak parquet and now have a nice dark burn there.

I am installing A/C, replacing aft eisenglass panel, then it's in the water for me!

Jim

I launched Saturday Jim...took it to CP the same day...like 10 minutes after it was launched. not a great day for boating, but it's there!!!!
